Gender is an aspect of the culture/invidual nexus and a helpful (to me essential) critical lens that can/should be applied according to the thesis/point of pedagogy under discussion. Its being a constuitive component of culture means it ranks meaningfully in the approach to cultural artifacts, but it is not the end of the analysis or even the necessary beginning.
