I have been a member of Yucy's "Belly Dance for Life" Troupe for about one and a half years and in that time I have come to learn what an extraordinary woman Yucy is, both personally and professionally. She is a woman who is full of positive energy, motivation and spunk. On a professional level, she has given back to the belly dance community on so many levels. As a native Egyptian, she exemplifies the authenticity of the fine art not only through performances of all kinds of Middle Eastern dance, classical, folkloric, nubian, etc., but also through her naturally vast knowledge of the culture. She continues to give through her shows, events, workshops and classes. And, she has given many opportunities to so many dancers in the D.C. area.
As an artistic director, she has illustrated a talent for intricate choreographies as well as the art of improvisation. She is a remarkable teacher, performer, promotor and truly an asset to the belly dance community. She is not only my mentor but has also become my good friend and I love her dearly.
