Summer Around the Bend

   Wed, April 30, 2008 - 8:37 PM
Life just keeps speeding along. I checked in with Tribe for the first time in months... realized how long its been since I posted here. I have been, alternately, in the groove of "Super Mama" and completely overwhelmed with my 4+ years of sleep deprivation and nursing two toddlers. I think longingly of the days when there were two adults (Rodger and I) to one child (Ethan). I am soooo happy and soooo proud of my children. I wouldn't give up a minute of the past few years, watching them grow and evolve into such amazing beings! But, I do get tired.
I joined a gym about a year ago (for the first time in my life). I never thought that I would get so into a gym, but it has become one of my favorite things. I am doing yoga, step aerobics, power (weight training) and a groove class. I have finally gotten a handle on the baby weight and am starting to feel good about my body again. I have also been seeing an acupuncturist, who is helping me to get my psoriasis under control and my body in balance. The kids are going to pre-school/toddler school a few days a week... so I am getting a few moments of "me" time. Things are getting more in balance.
Rodger has been working a full time job for about 9 months now. He is working for Deka Research and development in Manchester, NH. He LOVES his job. He is currently working on development of an in-home hemo-dyalisis machine. It is great to be working on projects that really improve quality of life. I am glad that he is thriving at work. Only wish that he was home a bit earlier in the evenings. But our finances and our lives are much improved right now.
As for the kids... Ethan is almost 3 1/2 now and smart and charming and very much a boy. He loves trains and airplanes, dinosaurs and dragons... He tells me stories a lot. His favorite color is blue. He likes to dance to music and play outside... especially climbing trees and playing on the playground. He loved our recent trips to the Stone Zoo and the Boston Science Museum.
Joelle just turned 18 months a few days ago. She is growing sooo fast! She is walking, talking, running, climbing everything in sight. She LOVES to sing and dance and "Dup!'"(jump). She is a clown and makes me laugh often. She is smart and happy and affectionate... loves people and loves to cuddle. She absolutely adores her big brother and tries to do everything that he does.
Ethan loves Joelle, too...except when they argue... kids will be kids. He is very sweet though and already protective of her. I am sure that they will be close all their lives. They do amaze me every day.
Happy May Day (Beltane) to all out there! I am getting ready for my first weekend of shows (Face Painting and Henna) and a pretty full festival season. This weekend I will be at the Wake Up the Earth Festival in Jamaica Plain and Mayfair in Harvard Square, Will also be doing Rites of Spring, Artfest Beverly, AHO!, 4th of July at Tanglewood (with James Taylor), Amherst Crafts on the Common, Grassroots, Spiritfire Festival, Sands Point Medieval Festival and more! A busy summer, but still with some free time for family fun. Hope to see many of you out there in our travels. Blessed Be and Merry Beltaine to all.
