Fri, January 25, 2008 - 6:46 AMThe thoughts started off with, "Why can't I read the Minor Arcana?" Which was followed up by, "Why *can* I read the Major Arcana?"
I think I can read the Major Arcana because there is enough imagery for my to pick up a story. The energy I interpret from the person getting the reading adds flavor text to the story... Does that make sense? If not, that's too bad, cuz it makes sense to me and that's all that I'm worried about atm. :D
So, maybe there's not enough imagery on the Minor Arcana or maybe I just don't know enough about what the imagery is "supposed" to represent. Maybe if I actually read a book on Tarot I'd learn what the Minor Arcana cards are "supposed" to mean and therefor I might actually be able to interpret them combined with energies.
Things that make me go hmmmmm....
Of course, I don't really have any intention of reading a book on Tarot (I just realized I've been capitalizing every Tarot related word... It feels good, so I'm doing it today. Tomorrow may be a different story), but maybe sometime in the future I'll break down and give it a go.
Any one have any good suggestions on Tarot Books that give a good overview of the Minor Arcana?

blaaa, never have read a tarot book, so i'm no help. but i started out reading playing cards, talk about lack of imagery. i do have a suggestion on reading the minor via imagery and your intuition, which in my way of thinking is way more where its at than any book.
all you need to do is keep in mind that wands/rods/stave's (is that the right word?)/ or clubs are always energetic movement cards. either a lack their of and stagnation or an abundance of. swords/knives/ or spades are all thought and thinking intellectual cards. people in this category tend to be very analytical. cups/chalices/ or hearts. these are the emotional cards, and can represent people not emotionally mature or ruled by their emotions. . and the coin/ pentacle/ or disk cards. these are the earthy grounded suit and deal mainly with money and finances. now ya that was an over simplification, i know. but what you need is to keep that in mind and now go get your self a new darn deck! one that speaks to you, one where the minor arcana have the energy for you to read and interpret like the major. now you can do readings all in the major, but the minor adds alot. so if you can find a deck you can read you'll be good to go. and it is out their i guarantee it!!!. what you need to do is go somewhere where you can handle a deck, look through it, look at all the cards not just like three. check out the imagery on all the cards, see if the minor call and speak to you, and check each suit. some decks have great imagery in some areas and yet lack in others. i know i have been reading for longer than i care to say now, and i have decks i wont read off of cause they are great pieces of art, but really don't speak in a reading. i still love them, but they are art and not good tools. and i tend to prefer certain decks for certain things. i love my goddess deck and it was my first official tarot deck, but it feels odd to do a reading for a man with it. my dragon deck is cool but totally sucks as far as any info. hope this helps. oh what deck or decks do you have? maybe i can give you some suggestions. good luck and ask away with questions. |
