I first met Kajira at one of my early Maui retreats in the 90’s. She was one of the most serious and conscientious students, highly imaginative with a sweet demeanor. Still is and always will be I bet.. She has always been a team player and game for personal growth and exploration. We got to work together on many projects.
She was the member of three of my Visionary Belly Dance Retreats in Hawaii (Maui). Loved the island so much now she lives there. I got to connect with her last January at Studio Maui.
I have fond memories of her participation in the “Junk to Jewel, Recycled Belly Dance Costume Contest” where she wore a beer bottle in her hair and a margarine tub bra.
She help sponsor two of the most enthralling retreats I / we ever held. It was at Isis Oasis in California with Lorraine Lafata and I taught a course entitled; Inanna, Salome and the 7 Part Cabarets Belly Dance Routine. 1996, 1997.
Thanks Kajira Djoumahna for being a friend!

I consider myself blessed every day that I have been given the opportunity to study dance with Kajira and also to get to know her as a friend. I'm not sure I'd be the same person if I hadn't.
Kajira is such a creative and encouraging teacher who doesn't seem to run out of patience. She is also a visionary--always thinking big, big, bigger while many of us just think medium.
I have learned so much from this woman about dance and all things related, and I look forward to learning more.
Kajira, thank you.

My beautiful dance sister! Kajira is LIVING HER DREAM! She makes the world a more beautiful place. I miss the heck out of her! I wish for the day that we can see each other again. Not soon enough for me. But I also love knowing she is dancing and laughing and loving life on the amazing island of Maui. Kajira No Ka Oi!

A student from Albany West Oz arrived for workshops this weekend. She's been playing the kajira dvd's. She discovered as we all do, that it's impossible to say the name Kajira without a great big smile and a twinkle in your eye - that's what Kajira does to people. She's not only an awesome teacher, but she has got to have the best smile in the business!
