about me
I was first published in 1979 in the World Fantasy Award-Winning Anthology, Amazons, edited by Jessica Amanda Salmonson (DAW 1979). All of my published fiction is centered around my world of Daverana. I left fiction for journalism after my daugher was born because the money was better and I needed to be able to support us. Over the course of fifteen years, i sold pieces to a variety of places, including the Washington Post, Cinefantastique, Movieline, and Black Belt. The most enjoyable job I ever had was being a restaurant critic for a visitor publication.

I was an in-house editor for Newcastle for several years, editing New Age books and did outside editorial for Jeremy P. Tarcher while they were still based in Los Angeles.

I currently have 15 novels out in ebook from Renaissance Ebooks, all of which have spent time on the Fictionwise dark fantasy best-sellers list. One of them has been translated into Dutch.

In the last few days, Amazon has confirmed that as of April 1, it is requiring on-demand
authors and independent on-demand publishing houses to have their titles printed through
Amazon's own on-demand facilities, Booksurge -- or they won't be sold on Amazon. The big
red buy-it button will go away.
