Loving and Living: On Tour
Being Pregnant, It's All About Food
Tue, November 11, 2008 - 8:33 PMRight from the start, it was "I can't eat anything, my stomach is acidy. I'm nauseated. I need to eat but I have no appetite."
Now it's "I'm so hungry, but nothing sounds good. Today I want pasta, peanut butter and bread. That's all I can eat."
No wait, actually it's "I'm so hungry, but all I can stand is salad, pineapple and vegetable juice. But none of it is filling enough, so I better eat some bread and peanut butter."
I can't even remember what it was like pre-pregnancy, back when I could go hours without eating and feel just fine. Back when I had a vast appetite for a whole variety of foods. Now I seem to have only a narrow range of foods available to my weird appetite everyday. All day long I wonder what I'll be able to eat next.
Oh, and forget going out somewhere for a few hours. I always pack a bag with 5 different snacks, because I'm just never sure what I'll be able to stand eating.
So far, being pregnant is all about my stomach...although I believe something magnanimous is happening just a few inches below...

oof, that sounds really hard. I had a nauseous headache day a few weeks ago where it took me 2 hours to eat a bowl of oatmeal. and then the hunger sometimes makes me feel even more nauseous. cruel feedback loops. on the upside of your pickiness, maybe you're a real peanut butter connoisseur now?
