The points that have been made so far are good ones, all I have to add is that I have seen the fire/led hoop combos (not sure which brand) in action and they really are gorgeous! I would LOVE to have one one day when I can afford it!

Wow yea I dunno about honey, seems like that would be incredibly messy and attract bugs... not to mention all the other random dust and bits of fuzz and everything else that would stick in your hair...

To straighten them, I would try some palm rolling... I find that helps if I have dreads that aren't perfectly straight.
