Thanks, Angela ASPCA DEMANDS CANCELLATION OF TV’S GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH The ASPCA has urged Turner Network Television (TNT) to immediately cancel Greatest Show on Earth, its upcoming series that touts a “behind-the-scenes” look at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Unfortunately, the real behind-the-scenes story is one of unrelenting cruelty to animals: the abuse of Ringling Bros. circus elephants has been exhaustively documented by animal welfare organizations, state humane agencies and U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors. The ASPCA—currently involved in a lawsuit against the circus for violations of the federal Endangered Species Act and the Animal Welfare Act—urges all those who care about animals to speak out against TNT’s new show. In a March 19 letter to Turner Network’s president Steve Koonin, ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres wrote, “To entertain the unsuspecting public at the expense of the welfare of these noble animals goes against all tenets of humanity and our responsibility to protect the animals with whom we share the earth. TNT’s viewers should certainly not be subjected to such hypocritical and unethical programming. Dear Dancers & Friends, Decotach wants to welcome you to our first news letter. We decided it was time for one especially since many of you have been asking us what’s going on. 2008 has been a very busy year already and we are very grateful for the work and support from our dear friends. TRAVEL February brought us to Miami Beach where we held our first official Miami fashion show. We were met with smiling faces, warm hearts and lots of oooh’s and ahhhh’s at the unveiling of some of our latest collection. Miami’s very own Bozenka was the lovely MC at the studio party and all the members of her company walked the cat walk like professionals showing the Decotach style. Noora also taught a saucy Greek/Egyptian choreography workshop and danced at the studio party. We are grateful to Bozenka, the beautiful models/dancers, Bozenka’s Belly Dance Academy, Denise Marino for capturing the moments in pictures and all who made this event so memorable. UPCOMING EVENTS: VENDING We are so excited to be a part of Tava's Bi-Annual Evening of Bellydance in Connecticut coming up this May. Be ready to uncover the drum solo in you! Totally improvisational, sensuous, precise, dramatic, fun, totally you! Noora has a very rich history improvising with some of the best drummers around like Gamal Gomaa, Gamal Shafik and Amir Naoum Chehade to name a few. Her instinctive feel for percussion and her Latin background make her a natural for the drum solo. Come explore the interpretation of rhythms and let it flow naturally from you. Look for this workshop in late May, date TBD. TAJ ANNUAL FASHION SHOW. It’s here again by popular demand!!! Our fashion show was such a hit last year that we have been asked to return. Join us again for the second annual fashion show at the fabulous Taj Lounge in July date TBA. We will be unveiling our most incredible construction design yet. Those who have seen it in the previews say its wave of the future. Finally, a very special workshop is in the planning stages, so stay tune to see what that’s all about!
