How to Mourn the Dead.....

<div>I grew up with a very large extended family, both maternal and paternal. I don't remember a time when I haven't had to go to funerals at *least* twice a year. I've always felt comfortable with it because it has always been a part of my life. Seeing the bodies in the caskets never bothered me. And now I believe in an "afterlife" of sorts and truly believe we should be happy for the dead because they are going to a place far better than that in which we are stuck. Up til this point I've never lost any human very close to me so I don't know how I'll react to that. I did not do well at all when I lost my cat. We were inseperable. I knew her thoughts. I kind of lost it a bit.

ANYWAY, back to what I was trying to get to. Because of such a big extended family, funerals were like family reunions. You suffer thru the service and then go eat. The rest of the day is spent eating and catching up with family members. There is no tradition. I want tradition. I want there to be something specific I wear. I want there to be ritual. I want special steps that need to be done to make it a holy event. Death has always been so easy for me that it seems so disrespectful. I want something to keep me mindful of the occasion. And when the time comes that I don't handle the death well, I want a tradition to fall back on to help me step thru the pain.

I love the recitation that some Buddhists do of the Book of the Dead. And how one person I know covers her mirrors. And how my friend's Italian grandmother wears a beautiful black lace shawl over her head. That shawl is only used for the event of death in the family. I want tradition, even if it isn't mine.

I never went to church as a child. (My mom's complete rejection of the Southern Baptist Ministers in my dad's family) And since then I have spent a lot of time trying to find my faith. I have found that there are many religions and belief systems that parts of ring true for me. But nothing is so completely true that I have been able to adopt the traditions and behaviors of that belief. And if I haven't emphasized it enough, I want that.

Does your family have traditions and rituals regarding death? Would I be disrespectful to that faith if I practiced the ritual without being of that faith? If you do have a tradition, how has it helped, or hurt, your grieving process?

Lookin for a little guidance........</div>

<div>Not in orders. Those I still will be getting out within 24 hours. But due to the illness in the tribalkitty family (and some funky thing with the website) some things are taking a bit longer. Most notably response times. If I am someplace where I am able to use a public computer I won't access the website emails. And when I get a moment in the office I'm pulling orders, packing and shipping. Sometimes I'm not getting a chance to check the emails. And of course there is the problem with having to have the phone turned off in certain places. In other words, This is the best place to catch me.</div>

<div>I need help trying to make a friend realize that the cash gifting club she is thinking joining is a scam. She doesn't get that the organizational structure (a heart) is just an upside down pyramid and therefore an illegal pyramid scheme. She has people telling her that they have a lawyer in the group that says its legal (can we say conflict of interest) and that one of the ladies works with the IRS and the way they gift is non taxable. I've researched it enough to know its illegal so I plan on calling the Attorney General's office in our state and getting some sort of quote from them, but I need some heavy artillery here. These people talk to her more frequently than I do so I'm already at a disadvantage.</div>

    </a>
										<div>in order to get high quality eyelashes (from the same company that makes Shu Uemura and MAC) at a decent price I had to import A LOT at a time. So we're swimming in lashes. After recently selling some to another vendor I realized that this could be a good opportunity for us AND you. If you need eyelashes in the quantity of 15 or more we will give you wholesale pricing. So get with your troupemates, friends or try some out at your next vending event. The only difference between Mac, Shu Uemura's and ours is the lack of fancy packaging. If you are handy with a printer you could even put your own labels on them and create your own brand! For more details feel free to PM me here or email me at stacys@tribalkitty.com</div>

    </a>
										<div>Posted with permission from friend Elle's blog:

"What is a PMU/Premarin foal or mare? PMU stands for Pregnant Mare's Urine. Premarin is a hormone replacement therapy drug (HRTD) given to women during menopause. It is made by extracting estrogen from the urine of pregnant mares. Other HRTDs are made from PMU as well, such as Prempro and Premphase.

Approximately 40,000 to 60,000 foals are born each year to this industry. Considered mere byproducts, the majority of them are slaughtered for their meat and shipped overseas for human consumption. Most of the PMU farms are located in Canada. The breeds of the horses range from (but not limited to) Paints, Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, drafts and draft crosses. They come in all colors imaginable. PMU ranches use a lot of draft horses in the barns for two reasons. First, larger horses tend to produce more urine. Second, Drafts are quieter natured and are able to be kept stalled for months on end in the barns easier than other breeds of horses.

There is much controversy about the PMU farming industry. The slaughter of tens of thousands of foals is one along with the mares when they are no longer useful or profitable. Another issue is the care of the mares that are hooked up to the pee lines for urine collection. Horses are roaming animals and many believe that keeping them tied in a small stall for 6 to 8 months is inhumane and cruel. It is also been said that many of the mares are kept dehydrated so their urine is more concentrated. Over population of horses is a big problem in this world. Thousands of U.S. horses are slaughtered each year."

-------------

Do you know anyone who wants a horse? She lives in Florida and she's going to be huge, but she's cute and worth a skillion pounds of good karma :) ♥

read more about her here: www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi "

EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED A HORSE, or can't keep one, please let others know of this ridiculous continuation of useless slaughter; And how they can adopt a horse rescued from this equine hell</div>

Its mainly a program to help the Pandas get back to a sustainable population. They ATTEMPT to get pandas in the wild. Not all make it but they do also heal the sick and injured wild pandas for releasing back to the wild as well. I'm never one to want animals in cages but at least this place is trying to make a difference for the better instead of just breeding them for the sake of breeding them</div>

This is for those that haven't seen the 16 baby pandas SICHUAN , China -- One zoo in southwest China has its hands full with 16 baby pandas.

The Sichuan Wolong Panda Protection and Breed Center is dealing with the results of a breeding boom -- 16 pandas have been born since July, 2006. The brood in cludes five sets of twins. The cubs are weighed and measured every five days (see pics)

The heaviest tips the scale at just over 24 pounds, while the lightest weighs about 11 pounds. Once weane d, the panda cubs will attend panda kindergarten. In the meantime, more little ones are expected at the center since 38 giant pandas were artificially impregnated.

There were several pics of course. This one was one of my favorites</div>

										<div>There is way too much drama around me. I have enough of my own stuff to deal with without them adding drama to it. So, I'm going away. I need a break so I'm going to the beach for the weekend. I know it will be too cold to get in the water, but thats fine. I just want to be in the fresh air with the sound of waves hitting the beach. I can do some rock hunting while my husband mushroom hunts. A small quiet break while I bemoan yet another year of missing Tribal Fest.</div>

										<div>I'm taking more pics of the stuff I'm putting on ebay and I got to this necklace that I really like. I don't wear it though. I got it from the estate of a lady that spent a lot of time in India, especially in the 50s and 60s. I started thinking that maybe I should look into it a little to see if maybe it is worth something. It was framed when I got it. Not well at all tho. It was just wired into a velvet fabric and framed. I have never even put it over my head. It doesn't have a clasp so I just started to lay it over the top of my head and it broke. Maybe I'm supposed to keep it. I was told once that elephants are my power animal so maybe I'm being called to get in touch with my animal nature and get my ass outside</div>

<div>But we are all girls here and it is some downhome advice for a problem that most women will have at some point. Nothing I write takes the place of a dr's advice or a Rx BUT My aunt recently had a yeast infection. She knew it was a yeast infection because she got them everytime she was on this one particular antibiotic. Having no insurance nor the money for Monistat we researched natural alternative therapies. The reason I felt I had to let people know is because she got results after one time of trying this method. Everyone's heard of eating yogurt and it helps, but better still is to put the yogurt where the help is needed. Yup, Plain unsweetened yogurt, right up the hoo-haa. How you get it there is up to you, but learn form her experience; turkey basters are messy (where the hell did she get that idea). You could soak a tampon in it. I guess the syringes that you give babies medicine from work well. And of course use a pad for the mess afterwards.

And the couple of you who know who I'm talking about.........Sssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh........She'll kill me if she finds out I wrote about this</div>
