Belly dance

Bellydancing was different than anything that I have ever done before, even though I had studied dance for 8 years when I was younger. I started dancing intensively with Arabia Adorned Bellydance, which focused mainly on Egyptian style and technique. Arabia Adorned provided me with a lot of proper instruction and belly dancing fundementals.

After seeing a video on Rachel Brice I am now obsessed with Tribal Fusion belly dance. I am now dancing with Desert Winds bellydance and exploring tribal fusion. I hope to incorporate a number of different cultural dance styles into my study to have a more eclectic feel. I am still really new to the tribal fusion but am totally intrigued by the subculture that the style has created. I am hoping to get more information and discussion on anything tribal from costumes to technique and performance.

about me
Growing up in small town Alberta, Canada I wasn't exposed to much of the world, until I had the opportunity to participate in an international drama festival in Melbourne Australia. It's what prompted my love for travel, even though deep down I believe that I was born to travel. Later I decided to purse my education and graduated with a degree in Cultural Anthropology. My education and my traveling experiences makes me love everything cultural, so the attraction to bellydancing was immediate.

We all have our body issues, but bellydance provides an environment to forget about them, at least for a while. I still am struggling with my belly,... read more
