about me
After college in the mid 70's, I worked at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in California as Assistant Educational Director of the Living History Center, the umbrella organization of the Northern and Southern Faires and the Dickens Faire (and the one time "great American Shindig Faire".) I then went back to Graduate school in San Francisco, doing my grad work in Curriculum Development. I taught in the Palo Alto School district, met and married my husband who is a violist like me. We moved to the Seattle area in '82 and have lived here ever since. I play viola in a local symphony orchestra and am a mom of two strapping boys taller than I am. I recently retired as Marketing and PR director of a local Youth Symphony and now spend my time with my family, my music, my garden and at my easel, painting (I had a gallery showing of my work in Fall of '06). I seem to have become quite tame after my wild youth!

Merry Christmas! (blog entry) Christmastime is coming 'round again! For me, it is always a time to reflect about all that has happened since I last unpacked my favorite tree ornaments. It has been an..interesting... year. As I sit here in my warm, dry, and cozy home, surrounde... read more

Thinking about California and other news... (blog entry) Growing up in the hills of Northern CA, being fearful of wildfires was a part of life. We planted iceplant around our house, had a fire retardant roof and an evacuation plan. It was as much a part of of the "what if?" life as earthquakes. Growing ... read more

Coming full circle....seamstress musings (blog entry) I am at this moment, bending over a doublet pattern, pinning piping to a seam. This time it is for my son who discovered Renaissance Faires last year. I have a lot of time to think as I do the painstaking handwork. "My photos" show me bending over... read more

Nope...never thought it would happen! Me? Never! And yet, Thursday, at 11:24 a.m., I officially turn 55! (Gulp!) I am now old enough to eat off the Denny's Senior Menu (which I am doing with a girlfriend for breakfast). It is probably an endless source of amusement to those who have already reached this milestone, but I just can't seem to "wrap my brain around the idea" that I'm really that old! I'm sorry, but in my heart of hearts, I'm still 23, thin, pretty and outrageously flirtatious and... read more

Christmastime is coming 'round again! For me, it is always a time to reflect about all that has happened since I last unpacked my favorite tree ornaments. It has been an..interesting... year. As I sit here in my warm, dry, and cozy home, surrounded by a noisy rambunctious family, I cannot think I am anything but blessed and grateful for my lucky life. A year ago this week, a major storm blew through the Pacific Northwest, knocking out power and downing trees. We had no heat or power for a we... read more

Growing up in the hills of Northern CA, being fearful of wildfires was a part of life. We planted iceplant around our house, had a fire retardant roof and an evacuation plan. It was as much a part of of the "what if?" life as earthquakes. Growing up, I was deathly afraid of fires and they were the stuff of nightmares. The reality is much more brutal! I can only imagine the terror and sadness of everyone in the paths of the SoCal fires, and the devastation felt by those who have lost their hom... read more

I am at this moment, bending over a doublet pattern, pinning piping to a seam. This time it is for my son who discovered Renaissance Faires last year. I have a lot of time to think as I do the painstaking handwork. "My photos" show me bending over my court costume 30 years ago and here I am in the same pose again! My mother received her degree in drama and costume from Stanford and was invited to be the costumer for Ashland in 1950, and I can remember her in the very same pose as she stitched... read more
