Marion Moat, Studied at the Y. W. C. A. and the Shajar Arush Belly Dance Academy in Spokane Washington, in the mid- 1970s, with teachers, Debbie Mejeweski, Leslie Zilke, Roxanne, and Judy Smith. In Yakima, Marlene Powers and Sue Harrison. In Tacoma, Jan Hader, and Gladys Redding. When she moved to Seattle, she attended workshops with Bedawia and Susanna Del Vecchio, classes with Delilah, and various other teachers in Seattle.
Belly dance activities: During the 1980s, Marion was a featured monthly columnist, in Jareeda magazine. She developed and ran a business for six years, “All Star Acts” with different performers and herself as the featured belly dancer. Marion Moat was honored to be on the judge’s panel, during the late eighties for the Pacific Northwest belly dance contest formerly held annually in Vancouver, Washington. In 2004 she judged
at the Emerald Rain Dance Competition in Everett and at the Gorgeous Bellys Dance Competition in the Dalles, Oregon
In 1984, she joined Troupe Desert Dreams in Tacoma, and taught beginning bellydance. When she later moved to Seattle she auditioned for and was accepted to the Tanavar Dance Ensemble, with Laurel Gray, as director in 1986. The Tanavar Dance Ensemble performed; at the Seattle Art Museum, University of Washington, Folk life, Marymoore Park, Rakkasah, Fund raisers for Mayor Royor, auditioned for and was listed in the King County arts commission performance catalog In 1987, the director, Laurel moved to Wash DC and the troupe disbanded. Marion currently teaches; Available as a workshop or series class give your Tummy and Derrière a Lift Keep your body whole & dancing to your eighties and beyond.

She also participates in the bellydance Forum in Lynwood, dances at restaurants; Marrakech, Cafe Solstice, Spice Box, World Dance, Kalia restaurant, Med Fest, Saqra’s showcase, Hasani’s hafla’s and Folk life
She hosted the Gypsy caravan show at Bothell Village on July 12th 2008 and again in June 2009. Marion is also the dance hostess at the Kalia, Lynnwood restaurant in Wash, 2nd Sunday every month; contact her if you would like a dance spot.
