about me
I have been dancing since I was 5. Many years of ballet, tap and modern Jazz. Then came the era of Disco, Urban Cowboy and Punk - this ages me! I love the Middle-Eastern arts and culture and can't seem to get enough of belly dancing. I share my life with my soul mate, Gary, my two sons, Erich and Nate, and my ever mischevious cats, Theo and Sasha. I love to cook, relax with friends, create costumes and dance.

Another Day in Paradise

The womb with a view is leaving! Tomorrow morning I have to be at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, NC at 5:30 a.m.! YUCK!!! The surgery begins at 7:30 a.m. I will be staying in the hospital until Wednesday. Then I will be home for a few weeks. I have a few friends coming over to cook and help hubby with me. I'm so lucky to have them.

Oh, and then of course Mother Nature wanted to be sure that I had one last menstrual experience so I started yesterday! YUCK!!!

I have been hav... read more

So I finished sewing another costume yesterday and hubby says "so why don't you sell some of your other stuff?" My palms started to sweat, my heart started to palpitate and I got the shakes! No way! He particularly mentioned my ATS garb since I haven't been taking those classes lately and have leaned more towards cabaret. But I told him that I will need to wear those for the Ren Faire! And I use the skirts for gypsy dances. There is always a use for everything that I have!

So okay.... read more

I've had these body aches, head aches and sore throat for the last few days. No dancing this week! I'm bummed! I am also feeling very out of sorts. I think it's because I've been away from the ocean for far too long!

I grew up in Tampa, Florida. Always at the beach, boating, water skiing. And then when hubby and I lived in Northern VA we had boats. We were always out on the river or the bay on the boat. Now I'm in land locked Charlotte! I know we have two lakes, but I'm just not a... read more

I have finally finished sewing this black and gold beaded and sequined beledi dress. I guess it really didn't take that long, just whenever I had time to sit, I would bead.

I bought the fabric in December because I liked it. Then in January I got the idea that it would be a lovely beledi dress with beaded fringe hanging all over. The fabric is a stretch poly black with gold holographic little circles stamped all over in a pattern. I decided to make a beledi dress with slide slits on ... read more

Re: Should I buy premade beaded fringes? (in DIY/ Bellydance on a Budget) I totally agree...buy the fringe and add the pearls. Gives you more time to do the creative stuff which you are great at!

Re: ack need help with 8's! (in bigbeautifulbellydancers) This is exactly the way my teacher taught me. It still takes practise to get it right and comfortable.

As far as choreography....take the steps youn know and listen to your music. You will be able create your own. Don't try to do anything ... read more
