Another Day in Paradise
My fingers are sore!
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 7:42 AMI bought the fabric in December because I liked it. Then in January I got the idea that it would be a lovely beledi dress with beaded fringe hanging all over. The fabric is a stretch poly black with gold holographic little circles stamped all over in a pattern. I decided to make a beledi dress with slide slits on both sides and gauntlet sleeves instead of the bell sleeves you usually see. It has a zipper in back. I then proceeded to hand string gold glass bugle beads with a sequine on the end all over th dress. I also sewed on a bead and sequin trim along the bottom of the sleeves, the neckline and the side slits and bottom hem.
It looks great on! And when you dance, the bead fringe moves nicely and the dress just shimmers in the light.
I haven't decided if I am going to keep this, or sell it. If I sold it, I would probably ask for $450 because of all the time put into it and the bead work. The dress is well made. See pics for more of the dress.
I'm already on another project. LOL! I'm addicted to costuming!

Thank you for all your comments! I will get a picture with it on. I think I have decided to part with it. I don't know why....just this feeling that it belongs to someone else.

Being a beadweaver, I can seriously appreciate how much time and effort goes into a piece like this. If everyone could (or would) do it, they wouldn't be paying you to do it. Simply put, $450 is much too low for your time, love, and creativity. Not to mention that it would look great on you, and you could always sell it later used for $450 ;)
