Finally at 8pm Friday, the long awaited call came in, "We're heading to the hospital." Jenn said. I told them to give me a call back once they were settled and the process begun. I'd read up (between calls) to find out what Cervidil actually did...

Little Speck was born yesterday evening to one incredibly brave momma (she was induced and did not take the epidural) at 8:14pm weighing 8 pounds and 15.5 ounces.

I'm so excited, soon I'll be assisting as a birthing coach for the third time! I find myself wishing I knew more, or finding things that I could have used in the previous births that may have made things easier on the momma. Its such a learning process- hopefully it won't all fly out the window when the time comes. The 'baby having basket' is ready to roll. What a pleasant surprise to check in today and discover that Boo (the choreographer) was able to procure and upload a copy of the dance we did to commemorate Keegan's recent arrival onto our big blue marble, this past July at Northern Migration. How do I feel about Ana?
Well, let me tell you,.... I met Ana almost, or just about 10 years ago. At first, her silent ways intimidated me more than anything in the world. Now, the silence speaks volumes to those that really listen. In the time that I have gotten to know her, she has moved from acquaintance, to friend, to sister. Over the years we have gotten to know just about every aspect of each other and most of the time we don't even need words to communicate. Ana is beyond a doubt one of the most intelligent women I know, and I thank the Gods that she is on my side. I have grown so much just from listening, not only to her words but to her silence, which has forced me to think more intensely for myself. While being a person that cares a great deal for her clan, she knows where to draw the lines of tough love. Where she is willing to go that extra mile for someone, don't expect her to, because she's not one to be taken advantage of. If you ask her a question, you'd better be damn sure you want the answer to it, because she is NOT one to sugar coat anything other than orange peel, fennel seeds or horehound. She has a WICKED sense of humor, and is one of the only people I would want to be stranded on a desert island with (not only because she can track down the edible wild plants & mushrooms!) There are a thousand things I can say about Ana, but the last thing for now will be that I am honored to be her student, her friend, and her little sister.
