Blog of Richard Erno ( fire phoenix)

though the road is paved the path ahead is vague, a virgin quest on fire banned land. The trees are beginning to whisper in anticipation yet a femiliar tinge of smoke passes across the sky....where there is smoke there is fire...where there is a phoenix there is a pyre. water bottle kero jugs in small quantity... all this risk for three minutes of quality.

a dear friend of mine, whom i had not seen in several years, had came to my home town in search of me. She came to discuss alignment share tricks a new book and great conversation. My dear friend is a pilates and yoga instructor and over the last 4-5 years has developed fire dance as another way to look at posture and exercise. Her teachings of breathing and body alignment have inspired me to "avoid hurting myself" postures that also enhance contact staff. I would recommend this book to ever... read more

i have seen many performers some good some bad, but what really defines a performer is one who can make the show not have the show make them. Some performers have loads of skill but put them on a stage and make them tell a story and few will meet the task. a true entertainer will take smething simple like 3 juggling balls make a character and then define it, breathe life into it even if its a silent piece an entertainer developes the character with emotion... which sad to say i see a lack the... read more

today i felt weird in my home town of merritt bc. I guess you could say its a half horse town. I had to force out my inner street performer. everyday at lunch the kids pour out of the local high school with nothing but food on the brain...well not today...i ambushed them with an impromptu fire show which turned out larger than I expected...I felt like a circus freak in a place where circus freaks are burned at the steak or stoned ( lets keep this one clean you guys) I proved to myself that ev... read more

this was a short show in the snow the logs were cold and so were the benches, after a short lecture on the trinity of fire and some green fire on my mask I took a toilet paper roll and soaked it with camp fuel and placed in the heart of the pit.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, paces from my target and a mouth full of lamp oil ( pfffffffffffffft) a loud flame roar and the kindling was lit and scard half the witts out of these junour cub scouts.

i bet they will never for get that fire pit lighting....hehehe

Man what an audience....I was n a small space hidden in the tree where the daydreamers lie in waiting for something to happen. the air thickens and darkness begins to arrive...with the wave of my magic wand i shall turn this regular ordianary fire eating torch into a martian torch only found on the planet mars.

for on my planet my sky is green and my "grass" is blue.

Now all I have to do is find a legitimate 9-5....yarrrr...I mean not that i couldnt support myself soley on performing I would like to get a little a head instead of breaking even

Iwas researching pyrokinesis the other day and found striking resemblances to fire dancing being the only thing a fire performer cant do is ignite themselves without a source of fire, we can controll it, hold it, move it and even out it out (if you fire eat)

This inspired me to change some of the definitions of Pyrokinesis

first burnt the twig-zzler...setting the mood for the Friday night. there between dj's, fire and light. Opening the eye of light within us all we celebrate again the man burning from the depths of his ashes rising again only to be burnt on Saturday night to celebrate the middle of the the end and the coming of the new. Overall the vibe was rype and very tribal...if you all know what I mean. Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and beyond, a gathering of fire keepers that element will never... read more

to the Annex we went for fire and entertainment. When we arrived things just fell into place (for once) the moved us from our original location outside in the down town area, to an inside space....I still had the fire permit from the downtown location and when I met the man in charge he said that fire was a possibility if i set up outside. Though it was cold the people who really wanted to see the show came out and clapped and cheered for the fire. 5 solo shows in three hours is enough to mak... read more

I have never ventured in to the South Carolinas, but there is something very familiar about them......ThEiR BuRnErS

and if you catch them during their mating ritual like the lightening bug they burst into flame dance around and cause pleasure, light and sometimes the odd flesh wound.

Into the mist and the marshes to witness the burner in its natural habitat, all is quite and then begins the sound and it was good
then came the dancing...their clothing fell off like exoskeletons, one by... read more

man I cant believe a fire performer would ever want to spin fire in Winston....the permit costs more than some charge for the show.....I mean 25 per show is ok 45 per show is ok but 100 for three freaking hours you had better write it on something smokable or it had better add color to fire or it just aint worth it. I mean all the other places in the area are allowing us to do fire at less than half....wake up and smell the new brewing art thats taking to the streets...

so in total it cos... read more

I am planning a month long Adventure to Toronto. I have only been there once and I would love to live there for a month. All the years that I have traveled I have looked at Toronto as the beast that eats people alive and spits out their bones. This time I am not afraid. Armed with only my wit and a back pack I set out to win the hearts of and the minds of those who are like minded. I would love to know if any of you fire folks would know of any opportunities or space availabilities for a perf... read more

here is the solid evidence that we among the Oceans of Fire II hold the world record for most fire breathers in one location.

I was stoked when, on my Virgin voyage to the man, I spotted an assembly of what looked to be fire breathers, I checked the event guide and mysteriously there was none. I grew closer more curious and several people asked me if I could breathe fire. A that moment I had... read more

information is the way to allow more people to understand what we do

this is defining the concept of fusing the word fire with the word Poi or Staff to make

Firestaff or firestaff so it represents its own identity.

this might help some of the online confusion when using a search engine
