about me
I am a nationally syndicated professional freelance writer, journalist, and editor. My two latest books came out 03/2005: Life's Spices From Seasoned Sistahs and Haunted Encounters: Departed Family and Friends, both anthologies available at www.amazon.com. My main blog is at fixnwrtr.blogspot.com, but my writing can be found all over the net with a simple Google search.

I was prose editor for seven years and chief web designer for two years at The Rose & Thorn located at www.theroseandthornezine.com and editor and reviewer at www.scribequill.com. I am a professional book reviewer for www.authorlink.com and my reviews can be read at www.thecelebritycafe.com and several other places on the web.

Basically, I am a single white female who lives in Colorado Springs and is active in the pagan and local community. I am also a licensed amateur radio operator and volunteer examiner licensed by the Americal Radio Relay League who edits the Ø-Beat newsletter for the PPRAA and a board member.

I have errands to run and things to do, but the writing bug has me. Laundry, dishes, library, marketing, post office, cashing a check and getting air in the left front tire should take precedence, but I am caught in the inertia of this chair so I can look out my windows... read more

During the 1920s and 1930s the protection racket was pretty hot business. It was the main cash cow for gangsters. The gangsters' muscle man would come in with some slick operator dressed in an expensive shark skin suit. The muscle man would get a little out of control and break a few things, scowl and maybe even growl a bit. The slick operator would shake his head with a rueful expression and tut-tut about his backward associate's tactics, all the while letting the business owner know that he... read more
