A day I couldn't do without,
there was no reason to scream
or shout,
just unadulterated silence.

I walked out that door with not even
a wince as I caught a glimse
of what's to come.

Once dragging my feet,
now I stomp to the beat,
of a somewhat different drum.

Hung from a thead,
I'm judging my dread.

I stop.

Only to find that it's all
in my mind.

The thread becomes a cable,
I'm willing and able.

I start.

Only to find that it comes
from the heart.

I'm stuck,
between a rock and a soft place,
conforming around me tighter
than anything rigid.

Exhausted I fight,
clinging only to myself and
the will to break free.

"everything is ok"...

I mentally whisper
as I absorb all that
surrounds me.

The room is large
and hollow

the walls dance
with candlelight

I sit in silence
pondering,

his expression
mocks the night.

Dark
cold
and full of anger
he sit and stares
at me.

i stare right back
and start to wonder
what it is
he sees.

A handsome man
with a heart that's made of gold?

I see a poor young fool
who's eyes are growing old.

I see a man with broken dreams
and demons deep inside.

I see a man who holds the fear
of losing all his pride.

And then suddenly I realize
that he's holding loaded steel.

He winks at me and smiles so
I know that he's for real.

I whisper him a secret
as he starts to disappear.

the candlelight as ended
leaving me
my gun
and mirror.
