Okay, feelin' a bit shakey....BUT, I did survive putting the tube/vcr & dvd player into storage....it's been over 4 months and I don't even think about the damn tv....if I feel desperate to watch a flick, I have my handy dandy computer, so there is some comfort there.

BUT...

Time to raise the stakes YET again...

I just DEACTIVATED my accounts on Zaadz, cafemom, free-association, blogger.com, ezboard.com....sick huh.... BUT I haven't ever really gotten into these sites...joined long enough to set up an account, played for a week or so and *keeer-splat* nothing...no emotional attachment to the damn sites!!!

I turned myspace account private and just can't figure out punkymoms site half the time, but I'm not leaving that...too awesome of a site--when I can figure it out.

It's UNbelievable how many of these ridiculous things you can sign up for w/out even remembering....my wallet was filled with passwords and screen names but no sites to attach them to...but I think I have them figured out....

I did sign up for this one site...a foody-type site, even found Penny on there....it was an accident that I joined, but I did...even have a stupid picture on it....can NOT for the life of me remember what it is....WNPR was doing a news thing on it and I was checking it out....little did I know it was to blog about restaurant / bar reviews....ummmm, no use for that....I'm just not that kinda girl...

I can't leave Tribe...not yet anyway...so my list is as follows...

Tribe (of course), punkymoms and myspace...

There are a couple of vegan journal sites I'm on but those are too informative to leave...

Baby steps man, baby steps....

Dear USDA....F#CK OFF and leave my chocolate alone!!!

....due to lack of time to write, I copied and pasted the info below from "The Grinder, Media Food Blog" and they just did a story on WNPR which made me do more research, this is all I found....I love my carob chips but they need to keep their paws off the chocolate!!!!

Chocolate-lovers should be worried. Currently, products labeled as “chocolate” must be made from real cocoa butter and whole-milk powder (for milk chocolate). But there’s deviousness afoot, as food manufacturers push to change these restrictions so they can label products made with vegetable oil as “chocolate” (under current guidelines they must be listed as “chocolate-flavored”).

The latest newsletter from the Center for Food Safety reports on the situation:

A group of food industry associations, led by the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association (GMA/FPA) has petitioned the FDA to change this rule, and to allow manufacturers to falsely label products as ‘chocolate’ even if they use non-chocolate oils or milk by-products in their products.

FDA is considering this change even though it can serve only one purpose: to promote profits for makers of cheap, inferior fake-chocolate products.
And even those who consume only top-of-the-line chocolates (no vegetable oil in mine, thank you very much) should be concerned. “If this change is adopted, producers of real chocolates will face an enormous and unfair disadvantage, since their true chocolate will cost more to produce but will be sold alongside the now-undetectable fakes … finding true chocolate will become difficult and [consumers] will often be misled into buying the foul, pasty-tasting, imitation product.”

What can you do to protect the integrity of your chocolate? You can send a letter to the FDA, which is holding an open comment period (ending Wednesday). The Center for Food Safety has an easy email form on its site for those who love chocolate enough to fight for it.

Now, I no longer have a TV (by choice) but if I'm in a crunch I just get a movie and watch on my beautiful 15" computer flat screen monitor...(thank you work)...

Anyway, I saw this preview when I went to see Rocky Balboa at the theatre and I thought, hmmm, Will Ferrill is pretty funny and that english speaking chick is pretty good, yeah, looks pretty good.

OMG...it's my new ultimate favorite movie!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj4MC8Nqpjg

Will Ferrill as Harold Crick is sooooooooooooo AMAZING!!! Nobody could ever play this part the way he does....actually, I think a part of me fell in love with Harold Crick!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-HArlgWlQ4

...and this is the ending, so don't watch unless you really want to...

I just have to share....I found a neat little ad in an ODE magazine and I thought, ANOTHER one??? I got online and checked it out one day and I was really quite impressed.

I'm still so very new to zaadz so I could certainly be "over" chalking it up but I've found some very nice people to exchange ideas/thoughts etc with...it's so different.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a tribe girl thru and thru, I only tolerate myspace because of the music, but I really like zaadz...I'm still a bit confused by the pods, the new posts to the pods but I'm figuring it out and I absolutely LOVE their set-up....well, I will admit, I love Tribe's new set-up now too with all the youtube stuff you can add...

I am not comparing the two...tribe is tribe and zaadz is zaadz, wouldn't be fair to compare...just rambling and well, by now, ya'll ought to be used to my ramblings...

If anyone is interested, check it out....www.zaadz.com and if you are already on and you dig my online friendship, please look me up...

August 5th, B-Cool Elvis Event in Syracuse, NY

Oh wow, what can I say!!! I haven't posted in quite awhile, but this day could not go UN-posted!!! :-)

I had the best time yesterday performing with Yvette & Katie to debut Belly Be-Bop. It could not have been any sweeter for me on a personal level to debut, perform, and share the stage with Sammy J, Elvis Impersonator!!!

Check this man out, he IS the King of Kings!!!! Ya'll know I would NEVER kid about something so important!!!! :-)
www.isitelvis.com

...and he is more than an Elvis impersonator, he's a painter as well, his art work is really cool....I think you can link from the above site, I did my research on him before he came to town so I didn't feel like he was a TOTAL stranger!!! :-)

The weather was fantastic, having gotten past the 3 digit weather from last week. My day started as chaotic as usual feeding & playing with Amelie, doing my morning Yoga practice at home, shower, hair, make-up, costume...fly to Dunkin' Donuts for that daily fix and off to the Palace Theatre to meet the other Be-Boppers and Sammy J for a full day of Elvis....

The 3 Elvis flicks that were showing: Tickle Me, Viva Las Vegas and my fave, Jail House Rock!!! Wow, to see these movies on the big screen was AWESOME (for lack of a better word)!!!!

In the first set, we danced to Sammy J performing "Little Sister" and though it was an amazing experience, it was scary as hell. We had a quickie rehearsal with him upstairs before going on---I had choreographed the piece to the cd version and well, <giggles> the counts in the beginning were slightly different than the version we were doing with him....needless to say, we were a bit shakey in the beginning but once we found HIS rhythm, we were golden. Sammy was very nice and seemed to enjoy himself here in crappy ass Syracuse!!! He wasn't full of ego and shit, just a real treasure to work with....

This was Yvette's and Katie's first performance and Belly Be-Bops first performance together. I will admit, with my ATS background, I had a really hard time staying to the choreography because dancing with him right there on stage made me want to go right into improv as I was feeling so different than the choreography (I have a love / hate relationship with choreography)....which is now good to know going forward with Belly Be-Bop....I'm pushing for them to become more comfy with improv! Yvette and Katie were great, I'm so proud of them!!!!

The second set was amazing because Sammy J had asked us to come up on stage anytime we wanted to and well, it wasn't long before his set started that Yvette and I were on that stage dancing improv. Yvette had asked me to lead the whole time as she was a bit nervous about her ATS q's & trans....

OMG!!! One song ended and the next song, he went into "Fever" and I just about died!!!! By that point, I was so comfy with him on stage that I almost forget that Yvette was with me while we moved and danced around him....I can't even explain, this piece was WAY HOTT!!!! Jason said it was the best piece we did, it looked like we performed with each other all the time....we had the chemistry though I do wish we had had more time to rehearse and hang together as it always takes a bit of time to come to that comfort level with each other.

Again, it was my first time NOT dancing with Shezam in almost 3 years and I was feeling it yesterday. I primarily dance improv ONLY and very rarely do we do choreography AND I had never performed with Katie and Yvette. I feel that my emotions about all of that impacted our performance as well. We have several more gigs in the next 2 months and I'm sure that with each performance, that will go away.....l truly had one of the best times I've ever had dancing!!!

I'm so glad they forgave me of my mis-counts for Little Sister---new territory for me and the other Be-Boppers were AMAZING!!!!

Now back to Sammy J, unfortunately, he lives in Philly....or should I say, fortunately for HIM, he lives in Philly, cuz I would be hasseling him constantly to dance with him!!! LOL....I was feeling pretty down last night when the day ended...<sigh>....one of those days that I never wanted to stop dancing!!!!

AND for all of you peeps that know me best on tribe, you will know where I'm going with this next part...LOL

Speaking of Philly, that brings me to another Sammy J discovery...he kept reminding me of my other...........uhhhh, how do I put this gently, shit, I'll just say it, my OTHER male hottie fascination ....you got it, Sly Stallone AND of course, my ALL TIME favorite movie, "ROCKY" (((Jason kept poking fun at me---said I looked all dreamy--Elvis and Sly in one man--aaahhh, Jay had a good laugh at my expense, the bastard)))....of course, Sammy J talked all Philly and I kept wanting to ask him to yell out, "Yo Adrian, I did it......I DID IT!!!!" Because the Rocky flicks are so near and dear to me, I've always wanted to do a Rocky tour of Philly, you know, hit the Philly spots from that flick--the street where "Survivor" was singing on the street....(doo doo do do, take me back) or Adrian's version (doe doe doe doe)....and to the gym and the pet store, the zoo where Rocky proposed to Adrian and of course the steps he ran up (can't think of the name of those damn steps right now)....man, and just when I thought I grew up a bit and got over my male fantasies and my juvenille love for the Rocky movies....LOL.....If I had the day to myself, I would so find my lazy ass on that couch watching my Rocky box set....another day, I guess!!!!

Belly Be-Bop has a lot of work ahead of us BUT the work will pay off, the troupe is heading in the right direction and I am proud to have come this far with the Be-Boppers!!! Oh, and we got hired for a wedding reception in October!!! Woo hoo....

The parents are the first Gurus....

In the words of Ammachi....

“The parents are the two gurus which the children see from birth until they come into contact with the world. If the seed of love is not sown at home, it cannot sprout or blossom.”

~
“Children express what is taught to them and what they have experienced while growing up. Therefore, you should be very careful and cautious for your children's sake. Be careful about what you say. Be careful about what you do, because each word that you utter and each deed you perform creates a deep impression in your child's mind. It goes deep into his heart because those are the first things that he sees and hears. They are the first impressions indelibly imprinted upon his or her mind.”

~
“Parents should always set an example for their children in words and deeds. They are their children's first teachers. Remember that by fighting and arguing with each other in front of your children, you are setting a bad example and spoiling their future as well. If you cannot straighten out your own difficulties, that is your problem, but why should you create problems in your children's lives too?”

~
“Parents should be very careful when they deal with their children. Don't give whatever they ask. They have no discrimination. If you do not use your discrimination when you fulfil their wishes, you are leading them to destruction. When you nourish their body, don't forget to nourish their minds by disciplining them properly. Give some physical work to your children as well. Let them sweat and toil a little every day. Otherwise, they will become lazy and good for nothing. Give them a chance to know the value of work.”

...Bhagavan Das...

I'm reading this fantastically delicious book by Bhagavan Das and I came to a part that keeps calling to me....I've read this a million times!!! The book is, "It's here now (are you)?".....I highly recommend this book...I just got it in the mail the other day and I can't put the damn thing down!!!! Amelie seems to like it too...

Here goes:

"The Lord's Prayer says, "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." Jesus wouldn't have put that in the most famous prayer in the world if he hadn't known that a hundred times a day we need to let go, we need to forgive. When we do, the next moment arises fresh and clean. There's no victim; no one did anything to anyone. And most important of all, one must forgive oneself, too.

The nature of human existence is stuck in time, and we are constantly given new moments. With every minute that passes there is another minute ahead of us. That's why there's never any cause for despair, ever. There's always a new moment.

You might blow it one hundred thousand times, but if you get it the next time, who cares how many times you blew it? It's important to remember this in spiritual practice and to learn from your mistakes and strive for the greater good.

Tribal:Pura
The exclusive partnership of Devyani Dance Company and FatChanceBellyDance....Megha Gavin of Devyani Dance Company and Carolena Nericcio of FCBD came to Syracuse on 6/25/05 to teach a workshop and perform at Belly Fest.....it was f'g amazing!!!

The workshop was from 10:30am to 4pm (w/an hour lunch) and I busted my ass HARDCORE!!! It got up to about 97 degrees!!! I felt possessed by these women to push myself beyond all limits!!! (I did suffer the next day for it though)....The workshop was GREAT!!! ...and their performance at Belly Fest had me in tears the whole time, they were so fierce and beautiful up there doing their THANG!!! The memory of that day will stay with me for.....like.....EVER!!!! =)

Shezam! performed a piece in each set....it was so much fun!! I'm really proud of our performance....I was dying in the second set as we danced RIGHT AFTER Carolena and Megha, like how the hell could we even follow THAT!?! They stayed long enough to see us dance...cheered us on and then headed out. It was pretty damn special if you ask me!!!

I had to get a new Rhajastan top for this and future performances as my other two are getting a bit tight...It was absolutely awesome showing off my baby belly!!! I got my energy and support from the little bun in the oven and I dedicated my dance to the baby and hubby!!! Jay said he got all choked up watching me and the bun on stage dancing....he said I was rubbing my belly and smiling right before we went on...<busted>...such a great day/night!!!

I miss Carolena and Megha, I sooooo wished they came to the East Coast more often....<sigh>

The only picture I have is with one of my students....the other ones are too big in computer lingo for Tribe to download....and I haven't gotten the troupe photo w/Carolena & Megha back yet....
