It really means a lot to me that he had a loving comforting presence the whole while.
I know that is what he wanted.

Sometimes I get this sad sad feeling that the world is a flat, and dull place.
Void of color Void of beauty Void of poetry Then I get a hold of one of Catt's works and the world softly opens up... Like an anemone swaying with the tide Like the first smile on your child's face Like the warm engulfing smell of bread as you open the oven The world through her eyes is the kind of world I want to live in always March 24, 2007
Words alone cannot express just how Marvy this woman is!

The question of creativity, motivation, inspiration, continuum keeps coming up in discussions of "what was Faire like in those days." So I keep directing to people to Catt's site to catch a glimpse of that spirit in action today.
She's the living embodiment of the spirit of what made it so wonderful, and the cool thing is she's still at it, living it, doing it, making it happen, and encouraging it to go on and on. I know it's for her enjoyment, but it brings so much pleasure to others as well. I'm so happy our paths have crossed and recrossed. If I'm feeling a bit down or out of sorts or office droney, I skip over here and get a quick "Catt-me-up" to make my slog less painful. She's an inspiration. Rave on, Wild Woman! February 11, 2006
An amazing writer and thinker and artist.. She has a perception that is stong and ınsightful.. The world is blessed to have someone like her to inspire create see and be active..
And Our World especially is enriched by her! Toma!! January 20, 2006
Catt is my mum, making me slightly biased cuz everyone loves their mum. But I happen to have a mum who never taught prejudice, who taught compassion and understanding over everything and puts her kids first even though she struggles with disabilities. I know no one else who will listen to me rant on my latest educational obsession and still has some new spin on it. She is more connected to the world then our president, and she seldom has the chance to leave her cabin in the woods. Props to my mom, keep yo head up! Church!

My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends - It gives a lovely light! Edna St. Vincent Millay ("First Fig", A Few Figs From Thistles, 1920) Bob used to recite this to me in defense of the difficult lifestyle my uncles insisted on pursuing. And so I respect them for it for I have spent many hours dancing by the light. Thank you.

yeah so i just read this huge book now ("A Pattern Language"), its like a gazillion pages and it has nice pictures however they are just as complicated as the rest of it. I have taken in 3 abandoned dogs during the recent foul storm. Two females and a male puppy. They are very smart and sweet dogs and after i get them fixed next week i will be looking for homes for them. It would be neat if the two females can go together, they are friends already and love each other.

these past few weeks I have been immersed in a project that has been coming round and round in my life for over twenty years. As we reclaim the village fountains, the town squares and the commons of our creative spaces we are learning how to use the fabric of the internet to craft the quality of life that we want.

In my case this includes time for tea. As the internet fabric becomes more integrated into our lives the question is how do we bring children into this landscape. At this poin... read more

Quite a bit of my time is spent in retreat working on my artwork and raising my daughters in Southern Humboldt in the woods. When it is possible I manage to get out to see friends play or attend events mostly in the San Francisco Bay area here in California. At first I thought that tribe would just help me keep track of a few pals, now it has grown into a whole other wonderful thing. Some of my closest friends were sort of found here or drawn close again here. Tribe has a multidimensional fun-house quality that I find quite engaging. All sorts of things have started happening since I started finding friends here. This communication interface has added a richness of texture to my interactions with my pals that I am very grateful for. At the age of eight I became a dancer in the landmark L.A. folkdance troupe AMAN! dancing Flamenco, Armenian wedding dance, traditional Middle Eastern, and singing before huge audiences at the Dorothy Chandler pavilion and Shrine Auditorium as well as my first chance at performing at the yearly Pleasure Faire in Agoura . Music has been a lifelong love;I began playing clarinet at ten; Dumbek at nineteen, then saxaphone and nay, mandolin, guitar, fiddle and ukelaile years later still. IN my early teens I began an Improv acting gig at Renaissance Pleasure Faire performing on the street . Peg Long was my director, close companion Mentor and friend. A year or so later Terry Collier hauled me backstage and taught me the art of vaudeville stage management and together in an ensemble (with many of you) we helped create a show with record breaking attendance numbers that paved the way for Burningman and many many other large scale festive gatherings... It was fun too. Along the way while living in Hollywood I got together with a group of pals and started an analog social networking service called "The Fools Guild". They still throw amazing parties today. Science and Art have comprised areas of focus in my studies at Humboldt State University, I was pre-med for eight years. I joined the West Coast school of Black and White Photography studying with Don Anton and the "Furthest West" art movement a decade ago. All the while studying for a career which seems to have a mind of its own...essentially I have been studying and waiting for the internet to grow up. Next up is the "Open Source Art Studio text series", meant to eventually encourage the ecosystem of artists devoted to the development of literacy and schooling materials for children on cell phones. I am a Conceptual Artist, a neo-futurist and an agitator for Modern Tribal living. I call it "Tribal Glam" in memory of Stonewall. The revitalization of the modern American Hero is my constant pursuit. The rise of open source and the spreading understanding of the importance of sharing ideas gives me great hope. In preparation for grad school I have begun writing a series of books to use as texts and I have essentially moved my entire studio process online. Recently I became a Google code developer and I have been spending a loot more time lately on Python than I ever imagined I would. Coding is creative. My current projects also involve some event production, DVD and CD production, some web promotion, lots of writing and photography and the development of experimental events integrating web presence with live performance events. Essentially still doing the fly-by-night producer thing. Sustainability is still my favorite word and my personal pet project. Self-education is always basically my primary activity, recently I have become obsessed with Blender 3D and Inkscape. My art focus has been working with the B.I.G. three art programs in open Source: Blender, Inkscape and GIMP. I really enjoy technical writing and it occupies several hours a day. Since teaching myself video editing a couple of years ago now, I am still making the switch from Premiere to FinalCut Pro and I enjoy time in the edit bay. Ubuntu and GIMP and even eclipse are all part of my ongoing study of new methods for artists to use the media. In my studio I commonly use a windows Xp sony vaio laptop, a Mac OSX G5, and an Ubuntu converted hp compac pentium (I burned it myself) and an OLPC XO. Open Source Artists Studio is my passion, art is a compelling and important form of human communication. My greatest goal is to unleash the potential of the human mind by reaching children trapped in poverty (or neglected) with educational tools on the cellphone. With descriptive writing I send out a long wriggling worm fishing for the old stories, the new fun and the *tribe*. This is essentially my little Fort or Hootch where I can hang out with this rather enchanting tribe.
