Vatican: It's OK to believe in aliens
I'm not Catholic but there are lots of them here on this planet. I thought this was pretty cool:The chief astronomer says those beliefs don't contradict faith in God
VATICAN CITY - The Vatican's chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God.
The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, said that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.
In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, Funes said that such a notion "doesn't contradict our faith" because aliens would still be God's creatures.
The interview was headlined "The extraterrestrial is my brother."
Funes said that ruling out the existence of aliens would be like "putting limits" on God's creative freedom.

Everyone can play - an inspirational story
I first heard this true story as described by who I consider to be my first spiritual teacher, Jack Kornfield.Everyone can play
At a fundraising dinner for an American school that serves learning disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
"When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?" The audience was stilled by the query.
The father continued. "I believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes, in the way other people treat that child."Then he told the following story:
Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked,"Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.
Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked if Shay could play, not expecting much. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."
Shay struggled over to the team's bench put on a team shirt with a broad smile and his Father had a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field.
Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.
However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing the other team putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.
The game would now be over, but the pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.
But then, something amazing happened.
Instead of throwing directly to the first baseman, the pitcher threw the ball right over his head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever ran that far but made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.
Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to second base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball, the smallest guy on their team, who had a chance to be the hero for his team for the first time. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions and he too intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.
All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay" Shay reached third base, the opposing shortstop ran to help him and turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third" As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams and those watching were on their feet were screaming, "Shay, run home! Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the "grand slam" and won the game for his team.
That day, said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world. Shay didn't make it to another summer and died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy and coming home and seeing his mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!
The reality of the dysfunction
Ok, So I finally get it.All of Eckharts teachings, all of the buddhist teachings, all of it.
It's almost here folks and it starts with you!
We are attached to an unhappy self.
That's right.
But it's not us, it's just the unhappy self.
That's what we need to get if we want to advance.
What is this unhappy self?
It's the left hemisphere of the brain.
WHAT?
That's right, the LEFT hemisphere of the brain, our brain, my brain, YOUR brain.
It's insane!
It thinks you are separate when you are not.
It acts much like an analytical computer. It observes things abstractly and then makes up relationship stories about those observations and then it makes up stories in relationship to those stories and what they mean in terms of another abstraction, the past and the future.
This is the part of us that is NOT now, it's purely abstract.
Now that's actually kind of cool that our brains can do that and evolutionarily it of course serves a purpose.
But the problem is that we have been endoctrinated into a world where we are told that this 'thinking' part of ourselves IS ourselves and it's been consciously and unconsciously re-inforced ever since we were kids.
But guess, what, it's NOT ourself! Part of us perhaps but NOT the big picture.
It's the erroneous identifiication with this part of ourselves which is making us all (humanity) act insane!
This is what Eckhart is tellings us. It's what I believe Christ came here to tell us, It's what Buddha came here to tell us.
We are NOT our mind and we are not our thoughts!
Here's a link to something that helped me to finally see this truth:
www.youtube.com/watch
This is the first hand account of a neuro-anatomist who ten years ago had a stroke. She was able to observe the inner workings of the mind as she was having this stroke and this is what she found.
The left hemisphere is the problem solver that is always trying to find and solve problems. And when we are not indentified with the left hemisphere we are calm, at peace and connected with that place that all our previous and current teachers talk about but which can't be named.
And it can't be named because it's outside the the realm of the problem solving abstract thinking left hemisphere!
WOW!
Holy shit!
So, if we stop identifying with this left brain consciousness and remember that we are NOT the left hemisphere we reach that state of 'enlightenment' that all the guru's who have gotten this before us have been telling us about.
It's real, it's now and it's YOU. ALL of YOU!
So what do you have to do to stop identifying with this neurotic constantly thinking and problem solving part of ourselves?
Simply observe it.
That's all you need to do. Just watch it it working. Watch it.
In the beginning you might get the left hemisphere telling you NO, you ARE those thoughts. If that's where you're at then try on the possibility that your not. Then observe it.
Or if you've already made the 'split' of dis-identifying from your thoughts you might just get an even clearer image of yourself as the observer of this unhappy self that can never be satisfied. that's all it is.
Eckhart is a genius and the neuro-anatomist from that link is also amazing. We are so lucky to be living right now...
Blessed be everyone! Blessed be!
The truth about cancer - unknown source
I just got this this morning and found it very enlightening. It turns out that this article is NOT from Johns Hopkins University which means this article falls under the 'hoax' category. And yet, the information still seems so good!
News from Johns Hopkins (not really, sorry)
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE THAT CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY TO
ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNs HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN
ALTERNATIVE WAY
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show
up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When
doctors tell cancer patients that th ere are no more cancer cells in their
bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the
cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's
lifetime.
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be
destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional
deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and
lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and
including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing ca ncer cel ls and
also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow,
gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver,
kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages
healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor
size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in
more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation
the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can
succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become
resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to
spread to other sites
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not
feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder.
By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer
cells. Sugar substitutes like Nutrasweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with
Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka
honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical
added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg' s aminos or
sea salt.
b.Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-i
ntestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus.
By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells
are being starved.
c.Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.
A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken
rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth
hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with
cancer.
d.A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts
and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.
About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices
provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular
levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To
obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable
juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2
or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40
degrees C).
Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.
Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-
best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy
metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12.Meat protein is difficult to digest
and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the
intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or
eating less meat it frees more
enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's
killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor
ssence,Essiac,anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAetc.) to enable the
body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like
vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's
normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15.Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. Anger, unforgiveness
and bitterness put the body into anacidic environment. Learn to have a
loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising
daily, and deep breathing help to
get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means
employed to destroy cancer cells.
PLEASE READ ON
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out i n its newsletters. This
information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as
welDioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.
Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases
dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program
Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health
hazard.
He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should
not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This
especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination
of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately
into the cells of the body.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic
containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the d
ioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should
be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad
but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered
glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us tha t a while ago some of the fast
food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin
problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous
when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked,
the high heat ca uses poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic
wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
