~~~Greetings Yall~~~~ I found myself in the Superdome giving free massage last weekend to various women who were in New Orleans participating in the Superlove event, which was a big, healthy, Oprah-sized party for the city of New Orleans and its devotees. (by the way for all u football fans out there the superdome is a really really big dome for events). I set intention to rilly engage and get to know each of the women who were going to receive massage from me, given the public and spontaneous, "Hi I'm babs are you ready to relax?" nature of the gig. Some of these women were crying. Some of these women were scared. Some of these women were very, very tense, wounded, holding on to pain. Many women were rebuilding their lives after losing their homes and stuffs to Katrina. All these women were so grateful that people were there to care for them. IT WAS ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING AND RAW This one woman told me about a nightmare she kept having (Katrina took her home). She is in her house. Suddenly she awakes and has to pack all her stuff. She anxiously runs around the house, gathering luggage, with the urgency of having to leave her house immediately and get in her car and evacuate. I ask her what it is she packs. She says thats just the thing, she runs around in circles, she doesn't know what to pack. she says she doesn't pack anything, she doesn't know what to take with her. I didn't know what to say. i ended up telling her you can't take anything with you in the end anyhow, so just to be at peace with what you have is a good thing. she said she wants to take some of her things. she says she wants her life back. I am not even certified to give massage! some lady who i later found out is the executive director of massage therapy in louisiana insisted on me giving massage when the whole reason i was there was to secretly meet oprah so she could get excited about supporting my new orleans swimming initiative. ha! once i got to the healing room i realized wow okay i'm here to lead some breath and movement, okay, WORD. which i did till executive lady insisted on me massaging so i posted in the center of the room by the altar and massaged for HOURS and i could have gone for DAYS in an environment like that The whole event was pretty amazing and real like this. Lines of women waiting for massage. Healing peoples, mostly women, throughout a large, lavender-smelling room giving attention and love to other women from new orleans and visitors for the event. Spontaneous yoga and breath, sound and movement circles forming in and around the massage lines. Rodney and Colleen Yee were bouncing around keeping things specific. Healing peoples had flown in on their own bill from all around the country to offer massage, aromatherapy, yoga and healing touch to participants. Later that saturday night there was a vagina monologues concert with eve ensler and a gang of celebrities reading vagina monolgues..? i had no idea the vagina monologues were so hilarious!! not all of them tho, shit. This was quite a refreshing reminder of how powerful our community is becoming as a ground channel for REAL healing. A clothing designer by the name of Donna Karan (totally new to me) was there generously supporting the event. Her new project is called the Urban Zen Initiative. Superlove yall. u are missed*

jeepers gang i am down here at my folks house right now in southeastern louisiana - sela! - and it is purdy freegin intense transitional flow i am being guided thru........the anniversary of katrina was yesterday. one year ago i found out about this kali ma hurricane while i wuz out on the playa and i made a commitment to living and breathing and walking my prayer tightr since then. its a tough road, one i have chosen. i buried our dog gumbo last week, my nana is in the hospital, and i found out today that a kid on our swim team in oakland was shot dead last week. not throwing a pity party by any means, i am grateful for everything i have in this life and all you TREMENDOUS BEAUTIFUL people!!!! just being present with all the transition and death and rebirth inviting me to grow with it.. ..so many lessons... ..learning the balance between holding on and letting go EVERYDAY thank you all for being you ..blessings................*

A couple of years back i read a message from the Hopi elders, and at the end it said "We are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For." It was like reading those words reminded me of some greater purpose to my life. And that if i wanted to be the change i wish to see in the world, then i also want other people to see the change i have become, in clearest faith that examplifying this emerging lifestyle of health and sustainability will make it utterly and completely irresistible. So i was like "We gotta have a tour! The truth's gonna be reprezented!" (dances around the room) And then i met other people who had been cultivating the psame vision, and i realised how lusciously abundant all our resources are, and that we have already created a new story of how to co~radiate on the planet, but we just gotta spread the vision of livin with our rhythm of givin. There aint nuthin stoppin this vision from sizzlin. All this shit goin down in the world right now is happenin for a reason. Sheeot aint right. People are killin each other cuz they aint happy with they world. People are razing hell so we can wake the fuck up, and just have this moment of remembering....like, hey! Heaven! ..Is right here. People don't have to be dying. There is enough food for everybody on tha table. Please. say there is enough! I mean.. i've been talkin to people who are getting fed by the SUN!!! yo What are u tellin me harmony aint possible, that somehow there are always going to be acceptable losses and people fightin over oil ?
