Ok, let me give you a little bit of Bay Area Softie 101 training to go along with that NY Jaded Education.
1. Assume harmless intent - Even stupid people don't necessarily mean to do you harm. They are just dumb. Just shake your head and tell yourself how you lucky you are not to be them! 2. Effective communication - Maybe your message isn't as clear as you think? 3. Food - To get people to shut up, hand them something to eat. A piece of candy, some french fries or a baguette. Just give them something to shove into their mouth and the will get quiet. |

Co-workers
Most of the time its my customers that draw my ire. Today its my part-time 19 year old co-workers. I've got one that is awesome and works hard, doesn't laze about and (again) works hard. The other two bitch and moan with each new task and lack any independent motivation whatsoever. Off with their heads!

My Solution
When I am trying to explain something to someone who isn't listening "Hey Bitch" usually gets their attention. Maybe it will work for you also.
Speaking of Bitches, "Shut up and listen" reminded me of my boss during a meeting 2 weeks ago. Trying to get our attention he told us "Listen or Shut the hell up." What the fuck does that mean? He says stuff like that all the time. It sucks working for a man whose IQ is lower then his age. |
