I’m my own worst enemy
I set myself up to fall
And falling I am
And I have knots in my throat
And the tears sting my eyes
As they well up and fill my cheeks
My stomach feels hollow and
And my heart feels blue
From lack of oxygen
I’ve been holding my breath
Closing my eyes
Waiting to land
But it seems I’m free falling
And the spark that set my heart on fire
Was nothing but a passing fancy
And my wings are wet
They don’t hold my weight
I’m just careening
Waiting for the end.
