hello world. Long time no write. Things have been chugging right along. as the year gets later and later I'm reminded of the hope I had in January that this would be an awesome year and I'm left with a sort of disappointment because this year has been sooooooooooooo hard for so many. I have had lots of great things to look forward to because of the dance and the things TABU has gotten to do. Lots of milestones have been passed for us as a troupe. things that most other troupes only dream of doing and up until recently we had only ever dreamed of too. for these things I am grateful. we have lots of things to look forward to at the end of this year to. this weekend we will be in LA for a workshop and performance with a great friend Danya and then next month we will be in San Bernardino/Redlands area for a workshop and performance. lots of stuff has happened this year already too. I have a wedding that I'm looking forward to going to for a very dear friend of mine. so much has happened and yet it seems like just yesterday. anyway im looking forward to be out of town next week!!!!!!

Hello Ladies, Classes are back! Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 pm at Studio one 7925 W. Sahara, Suite 100. on west Sahara between Durango and Buffalo. This is on the west side. Drop in fee of 20 per class, or 45$ for the month or 90$ for 6 classes. that's 90 mins of instruction! We will cover beginning pops and locks, technique, balance and strengthening to make you the best dancer YOU can be. Class will be focused on the "darker" side of tribal fusion. If you've never danced before this is the class for you!!!!!!! Be prepared to sweat and have fun! If you have a yoga mat you may bring it for our warm up section of the class!!!! sorry i haven't been on Tribe very much but dancing and working have kept me so busy i have had VERY little free time. so for those local ladies i have a new class on Thursday evenings. Intro to Dark Fusion dance for beginner/intermediate dancers. we will focus on pops,locks,ticks and drills to sharpen technique! the class is only an hour so please be on time or you risk not getting as much out of my class as could be possible! the upcoming events we(TABU) have are, Tribal Fest 09*we are teaching*,then our Tribal Nights showcase on the 21st of may, then in june Raven and I will be in the IE taking class with Ariellah, then in July Raven,Inara, And I are teaching at Wiggles of the West, september we will be back in the IE for a tabu weekend! we will be teaching two classes for your learning pleasure! sept 12th see the oasis dance studio for more details!!!! theres a LOT more things in the works that im not a liberty to post as of right now but damn we are excited and super humbled by all the support we have had!!!! :)

ok so they do have names but they weren't visible for two days... there is still snowy ice on my front porch cause we don't get sunlight on it. it's crazy how this has stopped the world we know here. if it snows anymore im going to have to get snow chains to get to work and back. i woke up this morning sore and stuffy from my allergies. when the weather changes im always cloudy headed. Tribal nights of Thursday was a blast!!!! we had a great time and Frank from Colorado springs danced for us!!! it was loads of fun! i also played WOW last night with BOO. that was fun too!!! now it's off to rehearsal!!! see you all later

yes it's true it snowed on the valley floor! that rarely happens. i think we got something like 8 inches... wow.... seriously people dont know how to drive in any other weather but dry here in this city. so driving around was a tad bit scary.... the snow has melted around my house for the most part. the pic above is of my street around 4 pm... i took me a whole hour to drive home when it normally takes me 20 mins.

wow... what can i say but this year has SPED by soooooo fast!!!! TABU has been super busy and it's been amazing! this year has just been soo much fun! with all the projects coming up and all the projects that have passed it's been super amazing ride!!! to all the events we have done THANK YOU for the opportunity to share our art and love with you all!!!! to all the events still to come OMG!!! watch out we got HUGE plans. :) our year is almost full already!!! we have an event in february, march, may, july, august,september already. lol... omg!!!! the only thing i have coming up for myself is in two weeks and i'll be in Oakland CA for 4 days soaking up the cool air and getting the opportunity to drink in the creativity that will surround me! SHADOWDANCE! im sooooooo nervous but excited at the same time. it's been a goal of mine since learning of this event and I am soooo worried about it. lol.. what if i suck? what if i let Ariellah down? yeah im a nerd.... i still dont know if my costume is done or how much it will be... oh well.. more on this later!!!!

ok i understand some people dont understand my reasonings for voting for the candidate that i am supporting, but to actively send me email bashing this man to try to persuade me into agreeing with you IS NOT THE WAY TO PERSUADE SOMEONE! if you are trying to persuade my by using fear it wont work.. what it will do is cause me to ask more questions to find the truth. im not driven by ignorance. To tell me someone is a TERRORIST because of a name is both absurd and just plain sophmoric! to assume anything about someone before getting the *flawed at best* facts is just as dangerous as holding a pair of scissors while running. in the local news paper they circulated a "documentary" about terrorism and people with connections to it. undoubtedly it was aimed at the people who will let fear govern their decisions and juedgments. am i afraid for the future of this country and the people in it? sure. but im not going to let an unrational fear of terrorist be my voting platform. how about voting because we need to do something before we become the next roman empire? how about we do something now! how about we vote because we are female and dont want to see our rights taken away when women fought soooo hard for them. how bout we vote because our environment is getting worse and we need a president who will work with other world leaders to come up with a solution. how about voting because we dont want our politics mixed with religion. how about voting because we need to free ourselves of oil dependency period. how about voting because we have the right to. how about voting because our education system is a joke and the teachers pay is even more of a joke. how about voting because with out our voice we would be living in a communist country. how about voting because we need a better leader? whatever you do vote. go register in person at any post office or dmv deadline to register is th 14th *in person* GO VOTE NOW!!!!!!

your our only hope.....I sit here watching Obama's speech from yesterday here in Las Vegas and I cant help but cry for a mixed feeling of joy and of despair. I see whats been happening around me, I see the crumble of the stock market and how loved ones of mine don't have jobs and cant make their housing payments.I see how the rich keep getting richer while the poorer are left shivering and disregarded in the streets. I see the environment around me being destroyed by the all American dollar. consume, consume like the money gluttonous pigs you are. When Obama becomes president I pray for his strength and safety and most of all I Pray that he follows through with his promises. The road ahead may not be a smooth one but eventually it will be paved in gold. save us Obi Wan Obama, you're our only hope.

im looking at the top of this mountain and wondering how the hell im gonna get all the way up it.. my brain is tired * i know im not the only one* with everything spinning at 100 miles an hour*which im used to* im usually good to go but for some reason this feels like over drive... i love action.. i like being busy. im not a stand still type of person. i have always been an action person. i like being in the thick of it but for some reason i want to withdrawl. check myself out of the world. even if it's only for an hour... dont get me wrong im not complaining at all.. i do love it but i think i need a moment to catch my sanity...perhaps when the commitments slow down a bit i'll have time for a massage. that sounds nice. i cant even imagine how certain friends of mine must feel with school and full time jobs AND full time dancing. i know they have it worse off than i do. *sigh*

omg pinch me i MUST BE DREAMING! I got an email from Chuck asking if i wanted to teach at TF 9, i promptly Emailed back asking if this could be a class taught by TABU instead. He said yes that would be great. SO, Inara,Raven and I will be teaching a workshop at TF 9!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!! please pinch us!!! this has been such a dream come true!!! we are so humbled and so greatful to be handed this opportunity! I couldnt sit back and take this Gem and not share it with my sisters! this is to preacious a jewel to keep all for me! i owe them the world and now i have the chance to give them back what they have given me and that is the chance to shine and give the world dance. i love them, they are my sisters and i couldnt think of more deserving women! we are soooooooooooooooo excited that we could barily contain ourselves!!! ...... when I dance too enthusiastically at the goth club. Friday Yasmin and I hit the goth club together and were having a great time. while i was dancing i did something that my upper back did NOT agree with. I figured i would be sore and take some ibuprofen to keep it from getting too inflamed* you know im really hurt when im NOT dancing* but the pain that followed on Saturday was TOTALLY debilitating. I went to rehearsal and tried to just grin and bear it but my shoulder/upper back was NOT having it. I could barely move by the time i had to go to sleep for work. Sean had to help me lay down*held my head* and help my get up out of bed this morning too. The weight of my head*did i mention it's a fat head?* was really causing me extreme pain at certain angles. so I got dressed for work and since i cant turn my head my hubby drove me and dropped me off. he kept urging me to stay home but i figured i would be fine after the morning stiffness went away. I got to work and realized that yes i am sitting for 12 hrs but there is a surprising amount of activity that would have me whining in pain all day. I went in the nursing administrators office and talked with the one who was on duty really quickly to check me out* they are all registered nurses* so she told me to go home and see a doc. Went to the urgent care and the doc told me i pulled the rhomboid muscles in the upper back/shoulder area and that it was no wonder i couldn't move my head because these muscles support the head for the most part. oy! i didn't realize how important these muscles were to my mobility till i couldn't use them with out PAIN!! UHG! so he told me to stay home and prescribed me hydrocodone and motrin 800 and lots of stretching* but gentile stretching* and right now im am SOOOOOOOOOOOO stoned!!!! i think i need to lay down.... lol... i cant see straight at the moment but hopefully this makes sense! lol..... ok def need a nap now...

so i have been m.i.a. for a while and im trying to get online a lil more than just a couple times a week. the henna workshop i had yesterday went well. it was Shalini,Noora and Jane so it was small and intimate but TOTALLY worth it. the ladies had a good time and we covered A LOT of material. hopefully they will have a new found love of henna like i do! :) Ren faire is shaping up to be pretty awesome. im excited and we already have the 1st song done! woohoo!!!! we still have AZIZA and the september instensive to choreograph for... YIKES! lol. and we are also performing at pagan pride day! on a sader note Pete broke up with me yesterday. im doing alright but i saw it coming. he cant handle my lifestyle im busy a lot and he constantly wants me around but thats hard for me to accomplish when we arent living together. he told me it isnt fair to both of us to have to only see one another for an hour at a time and sometimes we only saw each other for an hour a month. just wasnt the right time for either of us. *sigh* thats just life. my husband and i have decided to get back together. our relationship has been getting stronger and stronger and the amount of respect has grown by leaps and bounds. so i guess it would have been trickey anyway to have a boyfriend and a husband but then again who's to say it couldnt have been great. oh well. i now dont have the pressure of having to make time to reassure someone that i care for them eventhough i cant spend much time with them. he was really clingy and i cant handle that too well. i get all irritated when someone cant understand i feel smothered but thats a whole bunch of drama i dont have to deal with now. on another note TRIBAL NIGHTS is coming up and i will have the schedule written out for performance times soon!!! so if you signed up no worries i'll let you know soon!

amazing weekend!

wow wow wow! we had such a great weekend!!! Friday night we had a small intimate surprise party for Raven. we had a nice time chatting and i was given a bellydance tutorial on the different styles of cabaret. very interesting. some styles i really liked and some i didnt really care for. i guess my choice if i did do cabaret would be turkish but i digress. saturday morning we gathered up the troupes*Shalini,Inara,Raven,Yasmin* and headed to San Bernardino. the ride down was kinda cramped but fun we talked and sang and it looked like a chick flick on wheels. LOL. hehehehe.. we get to Cajon pass between victorville and San Bernardino and the hotel calls Raven to ask if they can give our room to a disabled person because the room she reserved is the only wheelchair accesable room . of course she said yes they could have it but wtf? why do they only have ONE room thats wheelchair accesable?! isnt that like illegal? anywho. they gave her a deal on the room rate for the inconvinience which was very cool on their part. we check in the hotel and hang out for a bit the rooms are SUPER nice... we get settled and Shalini and I stayed in one room while Inara and Raven stayed in the other room. they took a nap and Yasmin,Shalini and I all talked and hung out. Around 6 we*Raven and I* decided to get some dinner and Shalini and Inara went for a swim. It was an adventure getting around and figuring where everything was at. FINALLY we get back and eat and start getting ready for our performances. we find out that our performance isnt going to be till 11:30- 12 ack! ok so we roll with it.. we get to the club and dance a bit before we go on to perform. we got our groove on and we got interviewed by a public access channel take 1. the club was fun and we got to see lots of people we hadnt seen in a while!!! fun shit! we had to bolt as soon as our performances were done we got out of there and got back to the hotel around 1 am. i finally got to bed around 2. i got up at 7:30 the next morning and was trying to get everything that we needed to have finished completed by time we had to vacate the rooms. in our performance we had our WONDERFUL friend Shalini help us with our performance, she held up cue cards that Inara had made that morning. the zombie piece went over really well....people LOVED it!!!! the highest compliment was scaring two small children in the audience!!!! teeheeee!!!!! Earlier that day we had a WONDERFUL workshop with Ariellah and it was small and intimate! i LOVED it!!! it really helped re-introduce the need to BE the music and not just dance to it. to go for it and put yourself out there!!!! LAter in the evening Ariellah blew us away.. she did a little tribute to her father which touched me and moved me to tears!!! i balled it was soooooooo beautiful!!!! it's always sooo hard to say goodbye to her when i see her cause our time is always soooooooo limited!!! :( we said our goodbyes to everyone and left for home... we got in about 10:30 not bad for not leaving till 7:30 3 hrs zoom zoom zoom!!! thank you California for holding us so dearly!!!! oh yeah and SAVE ME TOM CRUSE!!!! USE YOUR WITCHCRAFT ON ME!!!!!! hahahahahahahaaaaa

wow... what a weird couple of weeks i have had... not to mention emotionally stressful last couple of weeks! things are starting to gear up again!! between dancing and living life things are soooooooo chaotic. Im keeping up tho! maybe i really am like the enegizer bunny! Tribal nights last thursday was a HUGE success!!! we had a packed house and the restraunt was quite pleased at the crowd we had!!! :) it was great fun watching and presenting our fav dancers to everyone!! how kick ass!!! This weekend we are leaving for punk raqs in San Bernardino!!!! TABU is dancing at the pre party on saturday night. as well as at the festival on sunday evening!!! thankfully i was able to get a late in on that monday morning for work so i can still get in to town lateish and still get decent sleep!!! woohoo!!!! :) how awesome! yay!!! im super excited to be able to see some of my fav peeps again like Marjhani, Ariellah, Nancy,Elizabeth and the rest of She'enedra, Edenia, Valerie, Beorn,Barrett.... too many to freaking mention! im really glad that Inara,Raven,Yasmin and Shalini will be there too!!!! i love those women !!!! woot vegas is gonna be representin!

Tribal Nights- a showcase of Tribal dance art

so most of you know about this but some dont! TABU had this awesome brainstorm to do a mid week show case at a restraunt that would feature soley tribal dancers. finally the baby has been born and our 1st Tribal nights is next week. This month we will be featuring Britt and Marisa*some local favorites of ours* so far we have 6 performances schduled. if you arent sure about performing and want to just show up with music there maybe a chance we wont be able to fit you in , but i will try my damndest.. i do know that the performances will kick off at 7:15 so PLEASE dont be late if you can help it! it's going to be an amazing time... please make sure that costume and music are restraunt appropriate. this promises to be AMAZING!
