Bob the builder needs your help

   Wed, October 31, 2007 - 5:45 AM

ok, so yesterday I had a huge blowout with my boss and quit / fired so, I need work. I have been meaning to post this well before now, but if anyone needs plumbing or kitchen, bath, basement remodel work done = leaky faucet, running toilet, water heater, need your furnace/boiler worked on, whatever. I charge $50.00 for the first hour / service call, $30.00 for every hour after that.(very cheap in comparison of other plumbers) Or I can come up with a flat rate for the job. I have been doing plumbing and remodeling for 15 years or so, residential and commercial. e-mail me with the heading "plumber needed" bobk108@msn.com or call me 717-943-5887
This is not spam, just a desperate plea for work.

boom out
Hey man, look at the brightside...now you can boom out! You didn't want to work for that asshole anyway. Jobs are easy. I'm not sure where you live, but if there isn't any work there, some traveling might be involved. How lucky one can be! Although our economy might be on the downside, there is still commercial and industrial building construction going on, but in pockets, throughout PA. I drive around a lot, and I've seen buildings going up all over.
I'm laid off (gainfully unemployed) right now. I need time off every now and then to "re-charge the batteries. We don't get "paid vacation" in our job, so a temporary layoff is usually welcomed. Can sign up, and get shit done around the house. One of the things I'm doing, actually, is installing a fire sprinkler system. Fuck the fire insurance people. They can't guarantee the house won't burn down. And all my stuff burn up! A sprinkler system is a fair wager against that. And nobody is going to die in a fire in my house. That's huge. Fire ins. doesn't guarantee against losing one of your friends. I got the sprinkler heads by doing favors for the sprinkler-fitters. I'm a Pettibone operator, and everybody needs a truck unloaded once in a while, or a couple picks with something heavy, so I get lots of favors. I'm running the water through PEX tubing, the stuff you put under a floor for heat. It's less likely to break when freezing. And it's cheap. Especially when you consider that I can scrap the existing copper. The price is up. But since my first PDF, I think I would get more enjoyment out if it by creating some fire sculptures with it.
Anyways, I live near State College, and haven't been able to boom out in several years. I would love to, but they keep me too busy here. I'm pretty sure you could find a job here, and I'll rent ya a room cheap. I know several people who are involved with the plumbing trade, and some with refrigeration as well.
Also they're going to build a brand new power plant near here. It's only in the beginning stages, running underground power to the trailers and getting roads in to it, but it's going to go. No word on who has the job, but it's gotta be Bechtel or Fluor. They are the biggest construction companies in the world, nobody else could handle a job this big. The last powerhouse I was on, there was 2500 people working on a 1st shift, with 500 or so on second. People just lived there. Seriously. The parking lot had "license plates from 50 states". Every hotel room was booked for miles around.
It'll be a while until they're ready for plumbers and pipefitters. There's a lot of concrete to pour. At least a year's worth. It's a good time to be in the Laborer's Union, as some of those pours are continuous and last for days. The concrete on the turbine floor(3rd) is like 14 feet thick, and as big as three football fields. The Laborers pouring it are on 12 or 14 hours days, 7 days a week. Can't fit all the money in their pockets. Actually it makes a nice "pillow".
I'll ask around, if you're hard up and ready to come around here. Pretty sure you could get a suitable employment opportunity. I would use the time to enjoy your life though. Life is way too short to be working all the time. Got to live.
You also might want to try DC, as I've seen a lot of work going on there. High-rises and such.
Good luck, and stay in touch ...Christian
