An angel of the highest order.
Thank you, Sweet Gabriel, for every song, every thought, every power of creation that surrenders itself through the vessel of you.

about me
"We are transformed, individually, collectively, as we make radical creative space which affirms and sustains our subjectivity, which gives a new location from which to articulate our sense of the world."-bell hooks
"Here, the body itself is a script - or perhaps one should say a ceaseless inscribing instrument." -Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak Graduated last December from a BFA in performance program at Naropa University where multicultural history, critical race theory, and post-colonial studies were combined with our training in dance, acting, and voice work. I am now living in Denver teaching dance improvisation, making music, and organizing community events. I am applying to the MFA in Dance at CU Boulder for Fall 08 to continue my work and training in Dance and multi media performance work. I am inspired by dance and music as community practice as well as performance. I am especially drawn to the liberatory potential of dance, the moving body, improvisational movement and the queer influences of freestyle dance. I am interested in the spaces in between, the spaces that are difficult to define or grasp. I enjoy the unstable zone where spiritual practice and critical cultural awareness rub up against each other in a sometimes juicy, sometimes uncomfortable dance, and sometimes both juicy and uncomfortable simultaneously. Is personal liberation truly possible without social consciousness, and engaged community? Is liberation a final destination or a journey, and life long process? What is the bodymind's role on the path?

Uma has an energetic effect on me, even from great distances. I wonder what those in his immediate vacinity feel like, and how many others have called him Muse?

urban lands of men, don't be suprised if this one most magically transforms into a singing goatling before your eyes....

Since my pattern has been to blog here once a year, I figured i would get an early start. I am procrastinating on the completion of my grad school application. I am applying to CU Boulder for an MFA in Dance. Yes. It's true. I want to focus my studies on choreography and gather more tools for producing work that combines live performance with video/film. I am exited to dance everyday for three years, and to continue to hone my teaching skills as well.

I have decided to stick around Denver for a while. I was looking at grad school possibilities, and potentially moving back to the SF bay. But alas my work here on the plains is not finished. I have been involved in a few creative projects, teaching, and meeting some amazing people, and I can actually afford studio space here, my rent is super cheap, and my awesome boyfriend has a teaching contract at a great elementary school through the end of the school year and potentially for next year, s...

Last night was the first of two performances of my senior show. It's a multidisciplinary dance/music/theater piece called "evensong". I have so been gifted with an amazing bunch of humans to work with-musicians, dancers, actors, and videographers. It feels so good. The piece is very personal and at the same time universal. Each time we perform the show (we had a week of rehearsals with friends watching before last night) I learn something new. And each time I feel I am being asked to let some...
