prologue: not big gas guzzling behemoths, or, um, anything else.

hummmmmm whirrrrrrrrrr zoooom....

There must have been at least 30 Humming Birds in the yard, swarming the red bottle brush shrubbery. I'd never seen so many in one place at the same time. It was breath taking.

so I went inside, prepared my camera, and sat in the yard and waited.

I soon discovered that humming birds are very cautious... after nearly an hour of sitting still they started feeding on the bush nearest to me. One click of the shutter and they flew off to safety. Another 40 minutes and 160 shutter clicks later I went inside, anxious to see what I captured... and was amazed at the motion and stillness combined in the photos of these incredible creatures. Out of 160 shots, maybe 8 were what I consider decent. more photos in my photo gallery... Just thought I'd share what I thought was a very cool spectacle.
