wisdom...

Maya Angelou

"I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow."
"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."
"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."
"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance."
"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back."
"I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision."
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one."
"I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone.

about me
i am an ever evolving mom, friend, lover, daughter, and spiritual being. at age 41 i know less than i've ever known, but i am excited by the path of learning. i believe the prize is in the journey, not the destination. loyalty, honor, and honesty are the attributes i look for in people, along with a dark and sarcastic sense of humor! my life has changed drasticlly in the last year. i am finding out new and wounderous things about me and the world around me. i have had the pleasure of meeting some completely awesome people who i enjoy spending time with and learning from.

The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.'

this kind of thinking is at the top of my list for why i do not participate in organized religion. i was very happy to stumble onto this today after a conversation i had with my 9 yr old yesterday.
she was telling her younger sister that if your a bad person that you will burn in H-E-double hockey sticks. that god doesn't like people who do bad things and when he makes them die he will send them to H-E-L-L. needless to say i had a HUGE issue with this dialog. i told her that i don't know wh... read more
