Lebanese music

   Sun, July 30, 2006 - 8:24 PM
The past few days, I have been listening to music from Lebanon and from Israel. So passionate, romantic, seething with the urge to brush the hand of God with their music and songs. I can feel the breath of my ancestors upon me, the dirt and the rock and the vibrant spirit that pulses through the earth itself.

I know precious little about foreign politics and holy wars, but I do understand the language of music. Whatever war or power struggle these countries are engaging in, they are vibrant people who are fighting for the same thing. They just see it differently.

This music, it takes me where I need to be right now. Which is a place of understanding the heart of my own personal matters, and seeing passion and committment for what it truly is.

Musafir; Lebonese music
I too truly enjoy Middle Eastern music..I am not too sure if I can discern with authority Lebanese from Persian or Egyptian music., unless I watch the dancers; but I do enjoy it . I am volunteering for a local public/college radio station here next weekend, and I Musafir will be performing. YaH! Do you enjoy Rumi as well? Can you name a few Lebanese performers for me? Do you enjoy other Middle Eastern and World musicians..Youusour N'Dour, El Hadj N'Diaye, Shujaat Khan, Habib Koite, Angelique Kidjo ?? I love how celebratory (of Life) the music is even when it is a public health message!! Cheers, Nels
