Help the P-cubed Oasis Get To The Playa!!!

Hey there Everyone!! We've been busy this past year working on bringing the P-cubed Oasis Lounge back to the playa for it's second tour of duty. This year, we're making it a two story bar; the bar bein' upstairs, 12 feet in the air, so that you and we can see the entire layout of Black Rock City, day and night, while we sip our tasty cocktails!!

We're experiencing a bit of a snag, budget-wise, though, as the event nears. Right now we're sittin' on about seven hundred dollars, with another thirteen hundred-hopefully!-comin' in from our other campmates. Our budget for booze is $2000, and fuel for the genny and propane-powered sign will run us another couple of hundred (thanks to soaring gas prices!)!

As I've said, we're still waiting for dues from other campmates, and we're seriously talking about doin' a fundraiser up here at a local pub, with live music, to help us fund the camp. But, it never hurts-save for the pride-to post a blog and offer an opportunity to you to help us reach our goals! Anything will help!!

If you've got the desire to donate to our cause, we certainly wouldn't turn you down! And if you are coming out to the playa this year, be sure to stop by the Oasis: if everythin' budget-wise goes right, we'll be on the corner of eight and C. You won't be able to miss us, since we'll be the only two story bar in the neighborhood!!

Thanks everyone! We look very forward to seeing you and celebrating the "American Dream" with each and everyone of you!!

Love, though always human, isn't necessarily always humane.

Just like us.

It comforts me some to know this highest ideal is as flawed as me, preternaturally.

I feel closer to it, knowing.

And I feel closer to you.

The P-cubed Oasis II: Voyeurism IS Participation

Here's a computer model of the lounge for our theme camp next year. Our theme for the year: P-Cubed Oasis II: Voyeurism IS Participation. Note the two stair cases leadin' up to the top floor. Our bar, with a modest 16' x 20' footprint, will be up stairs, 12' off the playa floor, an' will provide unsurpassed views of the city and the playa, both day and night. The Oasis will be located on the corner of 8:00 and 'C' St-or a corner nearby-and will face towards the man. Below the bar will be a robust shaded room with 12' ceilings, and a shaded, cool foot print of 36' x 28'. In addition, there will be one semi private room, and two private rooms, offered up for quite time and naps during the day, and who knows what at night. Plans are still forthcoming but, for now, you can see more images and perspectives of the lounge by checking out the photo gallery in the P-Cubed Oasis tribe.

We've got now a crew of six + carpenters to build and tear down the structure, as well as an accomplished lead decorator. We're still looking for more folks who want to jump in and help us flesh everything out, so if you find yourself interested, feel free to chime in on the P-Cubed Oasis tribe.

Still to come: an arial layout of the entire camp (75' by 150'), and final images of the lounge and the camp, replete with all the planned fire and lighting we've got dreamed up.

Hope you enjoy, and if you've not a camp yet to stay with, we'd love to hear from you.

I remember you.

Transient, Gyspy,
velocity of stone:

you were for the day
half wet lense, half horizon,
with bourbon eyes that sipped
the carbon lacquer of burnt trees
through a straw.

The slow whip of the river,
the lavender and tobacco...
your name was half damp, half coal;
a half undressed address you pronounced
with bare breast,
and the slurred venacular of a camera.

Somewhere,
between the crippled corpus of that old
Black Bear and
the dusty, hallowed road that led us there
-thanks to Tom's artereal charts, or Christ-
a bed was prepared...

I know.

You were half out there,
bending roads away from Rome,
half in here, indistinguishable from
sea urchins, coral, the lunar burst of oyester shells,
weathered by the holocuast of the tide.
