... Well, I don't. And I don't understand you people who do. If you can't be comfortable in your own head, with nobody but yourself to talk to, then I pity you. I really do. 'Cause you've probably got decades left, and while others may come and go, you're stuck with you for the rest of your life. So I'd recommend getting used to it.
Sometimes your writing goes in a completely different direction than what you had planned for it.
