Greenpeace - 100 Whales Saved - email President of Cannon campaign

<div>
Dear Friends,

This campaign has always been about saving the whales - for good. We are proud that this year we've saved more than 100 whales here in the Southern Ocean, and I am personally relieved that I wasn't forced to witness a single whale being killed. But our efforts here in the Southern Ocean are just one part of a much larger effort to end commercial whaling forever.

After months at sea, and the last two weeks of chasing the Japanese factory whaling ship, Nisshin Maru, we've almost run out of fuel and have to return to port. The Australian government vessel, the Oceanic Viking, will continue shadowing the whaling fleet, and we are confident that no whaling will take place in their presence. We have put enormous pressure on the Japanese government, and they have made it clear that they want to hide their whaling from the public eye.

Now our attention must turn to increasing public pressure on the Japanese government. We're entering a new phase in our efforts to save the whales, and now we're relying on YOU to take action to achieve our goal of ending whaling, not just this season but forever.

We're turning our focus on Canon, the company known for its high quality cameras and its commitment to protecting endangered species. As the head of the Japanese Business Federation, Canon CEO Fujio Mitarai has the power to influence the Japanese Prime Minister and to condemn whaling. But Canon has refused to take a stand against the killing of thousands of whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Is this really wildlife as Canon sees it?

TAKE ACTION -- Tell Canon to make a picture perfect decision to help end whaling.

www.greenpeace.org

It's time to zoom in on a permanent end to whaling. YOU can help Canon see the big picture.

I want to thank you for all of your support for us here on the high seas protecting whales. I hope you'll continue to support whales now by shifting the spotlight to the highest levels of Japanese business and politics, where the fate of whales will ultimately be decided. Whales should be shot with cameras, not harpoons, and Canon should be developing the same conservation philosophy behind the scenes that it uses in its ads.

Sincerely,

Heath Hanson
Boat Driver

p.s. Please pass this along to anyone you know who cares about whales or owns a Canon camera.</div>

SOURCE SYNC :: Sept 14-16 :: NorCal Forest :: Derango, Ghreg On Earth, Arahat, Dai, Catalyx, Konflux

<div>
Journey to the beauty of deep Northern California forest land for a 48 hour gathering of psychedelic vibrations to align with rhythms of natural life in a return to your connection with all that is. Release limiting karma, drama and trauma in an alchemical odyssey of awakening to the inner wisdom within universal patterns of energy flowing as a river through wild ageless spaces. Allow the guidance of nature to enrich your path with more grace, joy, clarity, purpose, passion and creativity for manifesting visions.

On the weekend of Earthdance we join a global dance ritual sending energetic roots to the planet's core and drawing dark Mother Earth essence spiraling to the heart of cosmos for reunion with the source. Derango returns with more of their Swedish forest magic in a live performance unlike any you will experience on this side of the world along with Ghreg On Earth's first fully live set in California and many others from talented local artists over two days of music progressing through a diverse range of psychedelic genres.

:: Live ::

Derango (Sanaton / Parvati :: Sweden)

Jens &amp; Ola began writing their distinctly well crafted psytrance in 2000 which has earned them much respect over the years through phenomenal live performances and groundbreaking releases like their debut album Tumult in 2005. The creativity of Derango is a full expression of the psychedelic experience transferred in music. Their huge sound pictures are created combining a solid warm base with waves of sounds from synths and samples in constant change and movement. The result is a unique wrapping effect that gives to the listeners on one side the safe feeling of the belonging to mother-earth womb and, on the other side, the challenge of discovering and understanding that our mind and spirit have no borders.
Ghreg On Earth (Mistress Of Evil / Auraquake :: Earth)

In the two years since his widely acclaimed debut album Sigilweaver and appearance at the first Mindfull gathering Ghreg has composed an evolution of his unique sound to be shared through powerful live performances including new material from the coming album. As an aural architect, he constructs sonic structures of mysterious, melodious worlds which offer spaces otherwise concealed in the deep abyss of the subconscious. Guided by his passion for cutting edge music, art and literature from the psychedelic and mystical underground, his timeless sound realizes the magical properties of music to guide people into cinematic passages of expanded personal experience.
Arahat (Psycircle :: San Diego)

Tom has been scrambling brains for over 12 years with masterful mixes of twisted, groovy, powerful night time psytrance under the moniker Hidroponik. He recently began channeling his own frequencies as Arahat and in collaborations like Arabali (with Mubali), Monks of Madness (with Bodhisattva 13:20), and Brains (with Bodhi and Mubali). His live emanations will send you on a trip through unreal dimensions of aural psychedelia.
Dog Of Tears (Xexify :: San Francisco)

Ranging from chaotic noise to dronescapes to industrial beats, David Cohen has been making electronic music of numerous forms under a variety of pseudonyms for the past 11 years. Upon moving from the metro-west area of Massachusetts to Los Angeles four years ago, Dog of Tears became deeply involved in the psychedelic scene and began melding his electronica obscurica with unique, woofer-rattling analog psytrance. In recent months he began collaboratting on a project with Amanda Karg of MoE known as Mugwort Moon. Prepare for an onslaught of dark, driving, distorted frequencies and rhythms replete with live modular analog synthesizer tweekage.
AnachroniD (Mindfull :: Los Angeles)

Hailing from the dark mysterious forests of Northern California and the concrete jungle of Southern California, Peter and James have been making music together off and on since 2001. This duo created AnachroniD in the beginning of 2005 to explore the depths psychedelic trance has to offer with a focus on creating primal, twisted, organic music.

:: DJ ::

Amber (Apollo's Lute :: Portland)
Barratt (BrainBusters :: San Francisco)
Catalyx (Mindfull :: Los Angeles)
Dai (Psytribe :: Los Angeles)
Dropzone (Psycircle :: San Diego)
EgBot (Gaian Mind :: Philadelphia)

Lauryn (Peak Records / 28thDay :: NYC)
Loke (Yggdrasil :: Norway)
Mimosa (Mindfull :: San Jose)
Mulu (Elephanthead :: South Africa)

NRDC (National Resources Defense Council) - on Supreme Court ruling....

<div>Dear Jack,

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court finally set the Bush
Administration straight on global warming.

In a 5-4 vote, the Court agreed with NRDC and our partners that
carbon dioxide and other global warming emissions are
"pollutants" under the Clean Air Act.

And in a stunning rebuke to the Bush Administration, the court
ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency ALREADY has the
authority to start curbing those pollutants, which are wreaking
havoc with our climate.

This landmark victory belongs to NRDC activists like you, who
helped us launch this case four years ago and allowed us to play
a leading role in a winning coalition of nearly 30 states,
cities and environmental groups. We could not have prevailed
without you!

And I know you want to hear exactly what the Court's decision
means to our fight against global warming.

First, it obliterates the Bush Administration's leading excuse
for doing nothing about global warming: namely, that it has no
power to control carbon pollution. The Supreme Court has now
ordered the EPA to stop relying on illegal excuses and to start
getting serious about the problem of global warming pollution
from new cars, SUVs and trucks.

Second, it removes the major obstacle to measures in California
and ten other states that would slash greenhouse gas emissions
from car exhaust.

Third, it adds immeasurably to the history-making momentum we've
been building -- month by month, victory by victory -- for
Congress to pass strong global warming legislation. Consider
what's happened in just the last 90 days:

* Ten of the most influential companies in the world joined with
NRDC and other leading environmental groups to call on Congress
for a mandatory approach to cutting global warming pollution.

* NRDC helped spur a pioneering clean energy accord with TXU, a
giant utility, which marks the beginning of the end of America's
investment in dirty coal.

* NRDC helped persuade Arizona, New Mexico, Washington and
Oregon to commit to mandatory caps on global warming pollution,
bringing the latest total to 15 states.

* On April 14th, tens of thousands of Americans will mobilize
for StepItUp rallies, creating a groundswell of support for
global warming legislation.

A nationwide chain reaction has been unleashed, and yesterday's
Supreme Court ruling is going to focus new and intense heat on
Congress, which is just gearing up for serious debate on global
warming. The timing could not be better.

If you haven't already, I urge you to join that chain reaction
by making your own voice heard in Congress. Go to
http://www.nrdcaction.org/gwtakeaction and send a message
telling your Senators and Representative to pass a bill that
cuts global warming pollution 25 percent by 2020 and 80 percent
by 2050.

It will take overwhelming public support to pass the kind of
bold legislation that our planet so desperately needs. But if we
can prevail over the Bush Administration in the Supreme Court,
then anything is possible on Capitol Hill.

Let's take the fight to Congress!

Sincerely,

Frances Beinecke
President
Natural Resources Defense Council

. . .

We appreciate the opportunity to communicate with you and others.

Re: What have you done to help?

Today, 12:25 AM
This week I started a tribe for the people of Darfur. I signed a petition to Bush, to the U.N. I am trying to spread the word that we can do something by raising or voices. I am working on bigger ways to do this (ie. media enhanced yelling) But, I ask you...What have you done to help the problem today? Have you told a friend, signed a petition, written your senator...please join in this discussion. It's as important as any issue. Human lives. Human suffering. Rwanda was supposed to be the bellweather of non-participation, public ineffectualism. Spread the word. Blog your friends to join this tribe and participate in a discussion yielding greater awareness, mobility and action. This is a no brainer. Thanks, love &amp; light, JB http://tribes.tribe.net/savedarfur
