Movie trailer is out for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. So far the touch of Peter Jackson on many of my childhood classics (Lord of The Rings, King Kong and now The Chronicles of Narnia) have been bang-up jobs. Makes me wish he had his hands on the other pinnacle gnera adaptations I Robot and I Am Legend instead of the crew of knuckleheads that pretty much destroyed all the core concepts of those books.

Anyway, on to the trailer...
So far I only have two set up for 2008 but I am sure there will be plenty more coming.

2.08-2.09When you buy a ticket tell them I sent you and I may get "something" for it. What that "something" is I have no frigging clue but hell, it is "something". And you know I may very well share that "something" with you. Who knows. Let's get crazy with "something". 3.28-3.30As usual I'll not only be participating but also lending a hand running the art show. HorrorFind is always a blast and well worth it. This upcoming is one big Romero-Zombie fest so you know I'll be in Second Heaven.
This is kind of not work safe in that it's actually a mock sex hotline advertisement, so some of your fellow cubical zombies who hear this may think you're up to no-good-hanky-panky. But then again if you work in a place that you have to worry about that then I guess you shouldn't be looking at this anyway you naughty little monkey.

This year's Philcon turned out to be far better than I, and many others, expected. Considering the turmoil that ensued during the planning stages for this year many thought that things would be a disaster. But due to a lot of forward thinking people who took it upon themselves to save this convention Philcon not only didn't suck, it was fun. And if you know me that's saying a lot.

The two panels I participated in - Art in the Techno Age and Building a Web Presence for Free not only went off without a hitch, they didn't turn into crap-fests. All of my fellow panelists were well informed, entertaining and not jackasses. And those who attended the panels were just the same, which is especially surprising for the Art in the Techno Age considering that for many years digital art has been looked as the bastard child of photography and porn with a bit of Etch-A-Sketch thrown in for good measure. But this time there were no smack-asses whining that digital is killing your kid's brain and it will cause ass tumors. Nice change-up really. And obviously there's the art show, which Joni deserves many thanks for. Though I have to say there had to be a lot of glue huffing or something going on this year in the art show room. I was the recipient of this years Philcon Art Show Best in Show in the category of Horror. Obviously my first thought was that this had to be a mistake. There's a lot of horror and related artists this year, good ones. Ones better than me. Me, winning a Best in Show... at Philcon? Get the fuck out of here. And here's the kicker, the specific piece that this honor was bestowed upon was none other than "Building Eden Upon the Ruins of the Gods". Yes, the one piece that generally makes people cringe because it's a naked woman being stitched together. I have no clue which of you payed the judges off but thanks. So thanks to all of those people who stepped up to the plate and did the right thing, thusly making Philly's Geek gathering pretty swank:
I'm technically on three panels this year but one of them is more of a meet-and-greet. Here's the information for them:

Primarily Grendel's Den Design Studio caters to (but is not limited to) the Speculative Fiction (Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy) industries, Gothic and Alternative scenes, Halloween related, Haunt industries and other related fields. About D.E. Christman: D.E. Christman is an artist that simply wants to scare the hell out of you. And he takes great pleasure in doing so. He has been creating his darkened images for as long as he can remember. Monsters, goblins, spirits and other things that go "bump" in the night have always filled his imagination. His Lovecraftian inspired work has been described as "Twisted, demented and wonderfully creepy" (The Horror-Web), a description he takes great pride in. Throughout his lifetime D.E. Christman has pursued a long list of artistic endeavors, striving to learn all he can from each and every one. Taking from each discipline what best suited him and his creativity he built a unique style that is definitively his. Today he works exclusively in the Digital Media melding photography, archived textures and digital painting techniques to create striking and haunting images. He makes his living through his company Grendel's Den Design Studio, producing art and design for print and web. Grendel's Den came to life on December 12th, 2000 originally as a place to showcase his artwork. At its inception he had no idea that in just a short time the site would become the full-fledged design studio it is today. Today he lives in Philadelphia, PA with his lovely wife Stephanie, his son Andrew and the monkey on his back called coffee. He is also regarded as one of Philadelphia's premier zombie experts and has given various interviews and lectures regarding his knowledge of both the Living Dead and slaves of the famous Voodoo curse.
