2. As you wish.

9. I don’t deserve to be this happy!
10. Dreyfus once wrote that on Devil's Island he would see the most glorious birds. Many
years later in Britanny he realized they had only been sea gulls. (beat) To me they will always be glorious birds.
(sorry, can't stop)

well done
Good job ladies but many movies remain uncredited here.
I know that Mr. Barrett can name all of these (without the quotes even!) and I appreciate his letting others guess. Thank you Mr B I'll post the remaining answers tomorrow but I'm a little surprised that no Dickens' fan has of yet stepped up and named #9 |

Ok, so many of my most obscure favs in your list that I just had to respond.
1. Music Man 2. Princess Bride 3. Aw man... I think this is a Woody Allen line, but can't think from where. 4. Producers! Yay! 5. Singing in the Rain 6. City Lights! Yay even more!! 7. Not a clue, but I'm intrigued. 8. On Golden Pond (i *think* ... if you meant dwarf instead of troll) 9. Hmmm... such a simple line, I'm stumped. 10. HAROLD AND MAUDE!!! (one of my all time favs) 11. Young Frankenstein (or Fronk-en-steeen) 12. Willy Wonka 13. But maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be!!! 14. ??? 15. Blazing Saddles!! (ok, I'm starting to realize that you and me aughta get together for a Mel Marathon) 16. Oh! That's the drunk guy in um, um, craaaaaaap! I hate memory failure. *scowl* 17. Glenda in Wizard of Oz! (I heard a rumor growing up that this line was improvised cuz an accident had just happened involving the wicked witch's green makeup combusting somehow. anyone know if that's true?) 18. The Court Jester (yay yippee and hurraaaaaaaay!) 19. Dunno this one. 20. This one neither. |

Wow Sarah!
Great work!
You're right. It is "dwarf" and, since we're not playing "favorite paraphrases", my sincere thanks. You got most of them so here's some hints for the few you missed: 7. Jen got it right. 9. I think Alister Sims said it best. 13. After this skinny guy says this line, he breaks into the movie's title song. 14. This is one of the few English exchanges in this film. The other languages are German and French. 16. Close enough.... Rhustlers Rhapsody 19. From a musical with a religous theme. 20. From yet another musical. And I just checked the quote (and all weepy now) ... she actually calls him "Antone" |

7. Aw geez. I guess it would've been a little smarter if I'd looked at the previously answered ones. (imadork)
9. Oh! Is it from one of the versions of Christmas Carol? 13. Pleh. Still clueless. Perhaps more caffeine is in order. 14. Nope! I'm thinking this one is just beyond me. 16. That's it! Yay! 19. Holy crayup! How could I have missed that one?! Well haven't seen it in decades, but I *love* Godspell. Netflix, here I come. 20. Hmmm... OH! GASP! I think I must have gone retarded or something... again, how could I have missed that. Especially as an *enormous* Rita Moreno fan! I go now to hang my musical-lovin head in shaaaaame. |

13 is Man of La Mancha. - Peter O' Tool the skinny guy.
But no one can say "Choose" as well as Brian Blessed does to Sophia Loren. |

#14 = King of Hearts!
You younger folks need to rent it (thank goodness for Netflix).... |

Right On Lori!
King of Hearts is a beautiful film. If you haven't seen it, please do.
Okay, which leaves #3, the first movie Woody Allen ever directed, an irreverently dubbed Japanese spy 's spoof called .... What's Up, Tiger Lily That was a lot of fun! I may have to post 20 more someday! Thank you for playing! |

Okay, so here's my 1 submission in return (is this obscure enough)?
Mickey: Think her family's gonna be okay that you're a white guy? Cliff: They think any woman over 30 who isn't married is a lesbian. She figures, they'll be so relieved that I'm a man... Mickey: Yeah, it's always heartwarming to see a prejudice defeated by a deeper prejudice. A magnificent film (clue = 1996)! |
