The Gustav says. . .

AMERICA. . . Land of the not so free

Now we all know that Bush has taken away almost every freedom the Constitution and Declaration of Independence has set for us. It is easier not to get as upset as I am right now because these guys are in an office on the other side of the country. They are making their profit based decisions with lawyers and lobbyists and all the political quagmire that goes on there.
But to feel so violated in my own residence, the place I call home, the place I work hard to beautify and make comfortable. . . .it puts me into a rage that makes me wonder less about the maniacs who do rash things to hurt the general public, and perhaps it is precisely the place that the person who has done me wrong, is coming from.
Now I want to clarify that in no way do I feel that these people are justified in the harm they bring, and by no means would I act in a rash way because it would defeat the very thing that I feel my personal integrity stands for. It would go against all the love that I feel for each and every human being, even if I disagree with them, but I must tell you, my frustration still stands and it is difficult to 'let it go'.

Lately someone has been denying my freedom as an American to express my political beliefs. I know that this election is a heated one and even if someone were to express that they felt Bush was doing a great job, I wouldn't punch them in the face (which would be my knee-jerk reaction) but I would want to hear their points for this. I would be interested in talking like civil humans and getting another perspective. Instead, someone has torn down my sign in support for Ron Paul. I understand that not everyone is a Ron Paul fan even I don't agree with everything he has to say, but I would never dream of walking into their yard to destroy their First Amendment rights to somehow uphold my freedom of expression. This is an oxymoron in its finest example. By denying anyone their right to freedom, you are denying yourself the same. We are barely a democracy, why would you want to become a dictatorship? (Are they looking for some other country to invade us and set us free from our tyranny, like some other countries I know?)
It pains me to know that someone in my own community, someone who I might be passing while I whistle a tune, walking my dog, is defacing the home and personal self expression I have posted.
