the art of trying to be me

about me
Holed up in the mystic mts. of Ojai, Ca. raising my 14 yr. old daughter. IOW, i have no life...

Night owl internet junkie...

Still living a colorful and diverse lifestyle but without all the drama that defined my past.

Connecting with others out there struggling along the "been there done that" path, wandering if they were hatched, beamed or sent back to get it right keeps me sane.

There is an archetype for a maternal outlaw anarchist with integrity who wears patchouli....some things aren't gonna change.. they just keep evolving..

from people in the know

We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been a place, half –remembered, and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free."

‘If we don't believe in freedom of expression for
people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.’
Noam Chomsky

Listen My Child
Things in your world have a beginning.
After a time-be it long or short according to your calculations-things come to an end.
One of the secrets of peace of mind is take this fact into account.
Things come into your life-
Relationships
Experiences.
Challenges,
Then they pass.
Find it in your heart to be thankful for what comes your way
All comes for your growth,
For your unfoldment,
For your ultimate good.
Everything fits into your total life, though you may not see how this could be so.
But whatever you have been blessed with, hold it lightly, appreciatively.
When you grip something tightly you do not have it, it has you.
Live with the thought and in the thought that no thing or no one can keep your good from you. Know that there is never any loss only change and progress.
Then you will always be ready to accept the next blessing that is winging its way to you.
Do you understand?

Often we find our own destiny on the same roads that we have been avoiding.
Jean de la Fontaine

It is not a sign of good health to be well adjusted to a sick society."
- J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986)
Be Healthy.

Don't be afraid that your life will end,
be afraid that it will never begin.

"vulnerability is the soul of intimacy and lights the path to the human heart " j. moreno

Anyone can give up. It's the EASIEST thing in the world to do. But, to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you feel apart...That's true strength...

special space

"Humility is perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore; to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised, it is to have a blessed home in myself where I can go in and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret and be at peace, as in a deep sea of calmness, when all about is seeming trouble."
from Dr. Bob & The Good -Old Timers, pg.222

Indian Prayer

Oh Great Spirit
Whose Voice I Hear in the wind.
Whose breath gives life to the world.
Hear me.
I come to you as one of your many children.
I am small and weak,
I need your strength and wisdom;
May I walk in beauty.
Make my eyes behold the red and purple sunset;
Make my hands respect the things that you
have made,
And my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may know the things
That you have taught your children;
The lessons that you have hidden in
every leaf and rock.
Make me strong . . . not to be superior to my
brothers but to be able to fight my greatest enemy. . .myself.
Make me ever ready to come to you with
straight eyes so that
When life fades as the faded sunset,
My spirit will come to you without shame.

Let Go and Let God

As children bring their broken toys, with toys for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God,
because He is my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him
in peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help,
with ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched them back again
and cried, “How can you be so slow?”
“My child,” He said, “What could I do?
you never did let go"
