Saturday should have been just a regular day off for the Country Bears of Nova Scotia. Nuk Nuk was helping a friend move (Bear strength comes in handy), Rich was playing with friends in Concord, and Jeffrey was feng shui'ing his mother's house. While on a break, Jeffrey went to a cafe for a refresher. He saw a stage there, and hence asked if they needed a band. The owner said yes and set up an audition that afternoon for 5pm. Three hours to round up the Bears and play a gig cold?! Impossible! Not for the Bears. We show up and start throwing down. The cafe was empty at first, but the Rawk attracted another 20 people immediately. Nuk Nuk was sore from moving and sleep deprived (and never was he so unkempy for a show), but we made it through. They loved us!! How much do they love us? The place doesn't serve alcohol, but a lovely asked us what we wanted to drink (Stolichnaya and Stella Artois, please) and bought it for us. So The Country Bears of Nova Scotia are now the Rooz Cafe house band! Details to follow. http://www.myspace.com/roozcafe

As some of you have been privy to, when I bust out a cappella in public (*cough* to impress women *cough*), I always sing an old tune called "In a Dream" by the obscure band Badlands. I've always loved that song-it's one of me hidden treasures. I wore out my copy of the album it's on a long time ago, so I looked for it on youtube on the off chance that someone made a video for it or there was live footage of the band playing it. To me utter disillusionment, I found that a douchebag from American Idol covered the song!!!!! I refused to listen to it. Were I to sing it now, the childrens would think I'm copying this dude. Horrible....

Auditions set for Latin supergroup Menudo By Ayala Ben-Yehuda Thu Mar 8, 4:36 AM ET LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - Casting calls for the new Menudo kick off March 31 near Los Angeles, with the cameras rolling for reality shows on MTV and its bilingual sibling MTV Tr3s. A recording contract with Epic Records is already in place for the reincarnated Latin supergroup once it forms after a nationwide talent search. MTV Tr3s will document the "Road to Menudo" in a four-part special beginning May 12. MTV will broadcast a 10-episode show around the final five finalists this fall, with a debut album from Epic scheduled to drop in December. Veteran boy-band manager Johnny Wright (Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync) and a panel of celebrity judges will supervise auditions for boys who are at least 15 years old and "appear to be less than 19." Contestants will be asked to sing an English or Spanish song from a list on http://www.mtvtr3s.com.
