Thanksgiving was nice. We made the annual trip to Milwaukee and most of the fam was there. Thanksgiving is always at Aunt Mary and Uncle John's house, and I love it there! Mary got a new kitchen this year and it's beautiful... she's so happy to have it too. There's a certain warmth that permeates that house and it's just a peaceful place to be, surrounded by family. My family could serve PB&J for Thanksgiving and it would still be one of the best days of the year just because of my faboo family.



The annual big deal show at Jasmin's school (where I teach if you're paying attention) and it was truly one of the best ever in terms of dancers and dances. The only disappointing bit was the lack of level 1 students. Only three signed up to do one dance... usually we have 15-20 each in two dances. Dunno what happened this year. Chicken dancers maybe? Anyway, all of the numbers looked great and everyone put a lot of effort into their costuming, presentation, and performances. I danced twice... once with the rest of the teaching staff doing a JJ choreographed drum solo from 2 years ago (that I LOVE!!), and once with Blue Lotus Tribe, including our two new recruits. Both numbers went very well and I was happy with my performances. Three ladies also performed the fusion choreography I taught in a workshop and did very well with it. I want to steal April away from JJ's company and make her a Lotus (of course, I'd never *do* such a thing, but it's tempting). Hung out with the other Loti at the after-party and ventured home later than planned.



I've been mostly away from the SCA for a few years now and I don't think I've been to a Boar's Head event in about five. The whole day was really nice in a lot of ways. Many of the Chicago contingent was there, so I had plenty of familiar faces that I see at least once a year anyway, but the real treat was seeing all of my old Wisconsin SCA friends again. Many of them were both surprised and happy to see me and I was pleased to know that folks actually remember me up there. I got to catch up with some key people and just hang out. I also taught a Saiidi class that went over pretty well. I finally acquired an Evergreen medallion (represents an arts award I received in 2001). Sat through court and watched an old friend get Pelican'd (if you're not in the SCA and don't understand what that means, it's a big deal award). Went to dinner with my aunt Leah and another old friend, crashed at Leah's, and drove home in the morning.





So there you have it... the highlights of my past couple of months. Sorry I've been a little light on the postings lately. As you can see, I've been pretty busy.

My son has a guitar lesson in an hour. He's in his room practicing right now. He's singing along.



Let's just say that guitar lessons were definitely the way to go. He did NOT inherit my voice!!

WTF happened to the Tribe.net layout? They were down all day for THIS?

I've been out of it feelin' funky (and not in a good 70's way either) all day. I couldn't wake up this morning so I called in sick at the salon. I thought I'd get some stuff accomplished if I just rested a bit and I was right... to an extent. I folded the laundry, did some web updates, sent out some emails, and created a flyer for my new classes, but really, I spent most of the day being a bum. I still don't feel well. I have a class to teach tonight and one of my subs isn't available... still waiting to hear from the other one. I really just want to crawl into my bed for like three days but I can't.



By the end of the day tomorrow I need to draw up and send out the Tribal Rev teacher contracts, make a new saidi dress since I'm teaching saidi at an SCA event in Milwaukee on Saturday and I dont' have a saidi dress that fits right, and... well... I guess that's really all I *have* to do, but there's so much more I see needing to be accomplished as I look around the room.



God, I hope I can get class coverage for tonight. I just can't get rid of the ick.
