</a>
										<div>Next week, on February 23rd and 24th, Molokai residents will have a
rare opportunity to experience and to learn some ancient healing and
purifying meditation practices from China.

These teachings will be offered at Pu`u O Hoku Ranch by ChanYi DeChu,
the Abbott of the Los Angeles Dari Rulai Temple. A free introductory
session will be held on February 23rd from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, followed
by a workshop from 6:00to 9:00 P.M. on February 24th.

Medicine Buddha practices are thousands of years old. The sanskrit
name of the Medicine Buddha is Bhaisajyaraja. The Chinese call him
Yao Shi Fo, the Tibetans Sangye Menla, and the Japanese Yakushi. He
was a great Master who made many vows to alleviate the suffering of
all beings. In this workshop, students will learn techniques from the
Hanmi Buddhist tradition for how to apply mantras, mudras and
visualizations to heal themselves of many types of physical, emotional
and spiritual problems. Each workshop includes an Abhiseka, or
empowerment. This blessing connects recipients to the lineage,
re-awakens the body's innate ability to heal itself, and one's natural
ability to heal others.

Following these simple steps can profoundly improve health and daily
life. The techniques of Medicine Buddha Dharma enable practitioners
to strengthen their immune systems, perform deep self healing and help
others to heal, both physically and emotionally. There are also
techniques for purifying air, food and water.

ChanYi DeChu has been properly ordained by a respected Master with
deep lineage. He is a diligent and dedicated practitioner, who has
made the dharma his way of life. But even more powerfully – his
teaching is rooted in experience. Through this practice, he has healed
himself of a life-threatening condition, and has been able to help
others as well. And now thanks to Pu`u O Hoku Ranch, he will offer
these teachings on Molokai for those who have the fortunate destiny to
receive them.

										<div>February Special Events –
Deepen Your Practice at a Hawaiian Healing Heiau  &amp;
  Medicine Buddha Workshops / Refreshers

Aloha Hawaii Hanmi Sangha Members &amp; Friends:

We are very fortunate this month to have some really special opportunities to deepen our practice. Not only is ChanYi DeChu, Abbott of our LA temple,
on island all month offering MEDICINE BUDDHA workshops and free refresher sessions. (More information about these is below.)

But we have also been granted permission to practice at a beautiful HAWAIIAN HEALING HEIAU, called KUKUIPUKA.A Heiau is a Hawaiian temple and so much more. It is a designated place for the practice of prayer. Kukuipuka is also designated especially for healing. So the opportunity to practice there brings a wonderful synergy and blessing to our practice. We have permission from the Kahu to do our practice there,
and can even have someone at the gate to help direct people and to reserve the space for only those who wish to participate. Please show proper respect and honor the protocol for entering heiau.

Protocol and directions below, along with more information on
the Medicine Buddha Workhops.

Hope to see you !!

Healing Heiau Practice - Sunday Feb 15 10:30 AM; Directions and Protocol for entering below

Also FREE Introduction Wednesday Feb 18th from 6 - 9 PM
Sacred Garden of Maliko 460 Kaluanui Road

Both Saturdays at Sacred Garden of Maliko; Sunday the 15th may either start late to accommodate the heiau trek - or may be held at the Heiau – depending upon participants abilities. For More Information Call : 281-7955, (626) 320-9228 or check http://people.tribe.net/HanmiHawaii (if link doesn't work, try all lower case)

Protocol for entering heiau—Proper respect should be shown at all times.
● Remove shoes before entering heiau
● You may dress in your traditional regalia. In Hawaii women wear kihei (sarong) tied over left shoulder over clothes. Men wear kihei tied over right shoulder. This is not required but is common practice.
● Ho'okupu (offerings) are not required. Your silent prayers or chants are an offering in itself. If you would like to make a Ho'okupu to Kukuipuka, the simple rule is to bring items that are natural, such as flowers, water, plants, leis, ferns or other greenery.
● You may chant or do a silent prayer before entering.
● Do not sit on the rocks. They are sacred. So you may want to bring a towel or sarong to sit on.

Retreat to Peace with Wisdom36
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beloved friends
There is an opportunity for us to host a retreat in the beautiful village of Bradwell on Sea in March.  It will be at the Othona community which is right next to the beach and the oldest chapel in England.  It is very quiet and unspoilt.
We need at least 16 people to come so that we can utilise the venue at a reasonable price.  It will be suitable for those who are old hands at retreats, meditation and relaxation, and also for those who need to unwind and get out of the rat race for a few days!  You can join in as much or as little as you want.  Accomodation is rustic but includes bed and full meals from Friday evening to Sunday tea time!  We think the price will be around £90-100 for the whole weekend inclusive of EVERYTHING!
We attach a sample programme but please note that the final one will be shaped to those attending!
Please let me know as soon as possible if you think it would be something you would like to do and if there is anything in particular you would like to practice, try or do in the sessions.
Kind Regards
Jules and Jamie
Are you ready for change and transformation?
Do you want to take your mind and body to a new and deeper level of connection?
Prajna Akas'agarbha, an ancient practice combining mantra, movement and visualisation.
This practice helps in detoxing the mind and body of self-limitation, negativity, emotional imbalance and physical impurities; thus allowing oneself to gain greater awareness.
Cultivate for yourself a beautiful mind, happy heart, healthy body!
Try it out with a taster session!
There will be taster sessions for Prajna Akasa'gharba - you will get a 15 minute demonstration, learn 2 moves with the visualisations, and be able to ask questions.
Cost of taster sessions:  £5.00, with no obligation to continue on to the full course.
Taster Session dates:
Saturday 24th Jan 4:30pm
Venue: Shenfield Shrine
Saturday 24th Jan, 2:30pm,
Venue: Shenfield Shrine
