Happenings in my world...

Just a quick note.
After the passing of my father, I decided to become much more internal in my writing, hence this is my first entry here since Jan. 20th. A few months after dad made his transition, my last living Aunt Gladys slipped away and made her step into the next stage. She was a doll too, sweet as ever, always willing to make whatever we wanted when we visited Texas City, Texas; didn't matter if it was gumbo, fried chicken, or just plain 'ol cornbread. On top of all that, transit... read more

Playing in the background is Charlie Brown's Christmas' "O Tannebaum" you know the jazzy version. I love this tune. Well, on Jan. 12 some of you know that I received word that my father had passed and made his transition from the physical to the non-physical. 88 years he lived on this earth and I had the pleasure of knowing him 42 years.

On Jan. 14th thanks to United Airlines I was able to acquire a bereavement fare of $1100 (instead of $3799 and we're talking coach!!!) and a couple ... read more

Hmm. Just had the worst day of my life teaching. Kicked out 5 students of my communication class and witnessed girls playing grab butt, students writing on desks, talking louder than me, (I didn't think this was possible) and basically being little punks. I couldn't believe it. When I dismissed the class, I apologized for being a failure that day. And I felt like a failure; geez, I was almost...ALMOST...in tears when I walked out. A few students were kind enough to check in and console ... read more

It's true. You can learn a lot from a clown. I was blessed to spend a week in Mexico City with someone I love very much; my sister. There are so many advantages of traveling internationally with someone who has experience traveling internationally. Having an extra pair of eyes to see things that you don't (that includes someone walking a little too close to an earring about to fall out). My time with sis was non-stop sharing, planning, photo-taking, listening, negotiating and more of the... read more

Having a 10 hour layover in San Francisco has its advantages. When I left my baggage at SFO, I knew I wanted to meander through the Haight district and meander I did. My favorite coffee shop, The Horseshoe, had actually closed so I ended up at a window table inside the International Cafe. Coffee never tasted so good and its been 17 months since my tastes experienced hummus. It's also been several months since I tasted some American style unconditional love. I started smacking my lips in... read more

My Testimonials

January 18, 2006
To say that Harmony profoundly changed my life is an understatement. He is the best gratitude partner on earth. While gratitude itself is the power that has lifted both of us, it was Harmony gently and forcefully reminding me to be grateful on a daily and sometimes hourly basis that has utterly transformed my existence.

Harmony is big in all the best ways. His heart and smile are so huge, they melt you when he walks in the room. His singing voice booms out with confident praise, and his god-given (literally, and believe me, there is a story there) talent on the piano enthralls, and draws in other musicians in spontaneous collaborations.

Thinking about him brings tears of joy to my eyes, and a deep feeling in my heart that is reserved for family members and closest soulmates.

I look forward on his return, to laughing so hard that we fall to the floor and cause everyone at the cafe to stare at us. I hope we will do that for the rest of our lives.

This man. Get to know him. Keep him in your life. The gifts he offers are WAY more than silver and gold.
