My Macbook wigged out, NEED HELP!

Anyone know anything about Macbooks? I got a "kernel panic" and I can't seem to turn it back on... everytime it starts to load it says I need to shut it off then on again... and it never works.
I am trippin' out as I have all this school work that needs to be completed on there that I have not backed up! HELP!!
