Let me tell you about Heather.
Heather is one of the most genuine people I've ever met.
She has a heart so large, I wonder at times how it fits in her little body.
I bet she doesn't know how much she teaches my daughter about life. I constantly use her as an example to demonstrate that living as a free spirit makes you incredibly lovable & so much happier than people who don't dress as Santa Claus and go bar hopping. I share every possible experience that Heather shares with me to let her know that there is more to life than the Queens mall.
I don't often meet people that can find happiness in a puddle-but I realize that I don't need that many people like that...one is enough.

I can think of nothing that better captures what Heather means to me. And who she has been for me. She carries me when I just can't crawl anymore, when I think I've hit rock bottom... she scoops me up in her love and pulls me to higher ground.

And when I'm free to run and play, she leaps and bounds alongside me. She makes me laugh out loud. She lets me be bitchy. She LIKES me when I'm bitchy. She gives warm snuggly hugs. She likes to give people little presents for no reason. These little presents always make me smile and giggle. She reminds me of my mom in that way. And my mom was a kick-ass woman.

When Heather hoops, my breath is just torn from my body. It's that damn beautiful. And there's nothing more pleasant than a weekly dinner with Heather in NYC. Whether we're eating the best Greek food or the nastiest Vegetarian Chinese (veganese?) food (what WAS that brown stuff?) I always leave smiling and wanting more time with her.

She teaches me about myself. And I mean, with whom else could I get drunk and sit in the shower with a glass of red wine in a sippy cup... and still have a beautiful, touching conversation?

Thank you spirits of the universe for making me go to that crazy dinner party in Queens that night so long ago... and for that snake who got lost. I loved that snake.
