I Love All These People, Too

August 29, 2007
this particular fellow has the uncanny ability to be a hero to everyone. he knows the answers, he's done the leg work and has enough modesty that he'll only share his brilliance when asked to do so.

i think he is super keen and perceptive in a nearly preternatural way, thusly surpassing the normal and usual with extraordinary fashion.

and hey...he likes to do the astro-nasty. now that's sexy!

Hero is kind....compassionate....a wee bit evil (in a good way).....has an extraordinary tolerance for my flaky BS (which would try a saint I tell ya).....has a fab sense of humor....and is proficient at most everything he attempts.......and he knows the jedi mind trick.....it's spooky.....

He forged the preceeding testimonial and then unsubscribed to cover his duplicity, and his work allegedly involving "scientific image-acquisition and analysis software" sounds impressively sinister but he is thoughtful and has the best sense of humor in Tribe. I'm just kidding Cary Grant, please don't defriend me so I can't read your blog.

Where to begin? Hero is deliciously intelligent, delightfully geeky (this is a good thing), empathetic, and very observant. I am fortunate to get to hang out with him and his equally wonderful wife and relish his contributions to the tribes we share.

He told me what camera to buy, and he likes sushi. What's not to love?

about me
PhD candidate in computer science, photographer of some repute, science educator, sex educator, avid bicyclist, kinky. And that about sums it up.

I write scientific image-acquisition and analysis software for a living, and I use the term "living" very loosely. I take photographs for fun and art's sake. During the summer I ride my bicycle because I have this obsessive-compulsive need to balance on two wheels whilst hurtling down the road at 20 MPH and spinning my legs really fast. I do physics and astronomy education in area high schools as a visiting lecturer. I live in Alaska because I like it here.

My favorite number is CLXXIII.

Much in my blog is friends-only. If you want to read it, you will just have to "friend" me....

A poem written in a comment in my blog (by Jess):

O Chelsea, maid of beauty, and of grace
With siren hair and lovely angel's face
Did rue the fact of her poor Triscuit's plight
Of how it did get dryer, every night.

The lonely nights did burden her poor soul
She had her schoolwork, but still, there was a hole
Within her psyche - as well as in her pants -
Until one New Years Eve she met by chance

A handsome poker player, name of Sam
Whose nimble tongue she felt upon her gam
And suddenly, her Triscuit, it was wet!!
And you can guess what happened next, I bet

Yes, Sam and Chelsea soon became as one
They snuggle, talk, and laugh, and have such fun
As will be stuff of legends, when one day
Their grandkids will look up at them and say:

Gramma, Granddad, just how was it you met?
And Sam will blush, but Chelsea won't, I bet
And all will settle down to hear the tale
and ... something something ... blah blah blah blah whale .....

---

A poem that mentions me (by Chelsea):

Oh my Triscuit I do decree,
My exhalting, lofty love of thee.
For nothing else drier I know,
Perhaps the poetry of a Hero,
Will somehow prove to be,
More lacking of moisture than thee.

My dearest, driest of regions,
You were once of such succulence,
Although at this moments you,
Are much drier than a cashew.
No desert in all the world can compare,
To the tumble weed near my derriere.

And whom has access to my coo-chee-coo,
But none other than the tallest Hebrew.
For he knows the secrets to make,
My nethers turn to a flooded lake.
And for his efforts I must say,
A very loud, fervent "Hooray!"

And so my driest Triscuit,
Patience; do not get into a rut,
For in just a few hours you'll see,
The silloutte in the doorway of he,
Who shall be the sweetest lamb,
For it will be none other than Sam.

Wikipedia on friendship:

"Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behaviour between two or more people. The term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection. Friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors."

To me, that is a very good explanation of friendship.

A Wise Saying of Chaya, My Friend's Sister:

"We live in a world where strength and bravery are often measured by the amount of force and destruction one can wield on another. I must remember that it takes substantially more bravery to be gentle and tender day after day, to maintain kindness even in the most trying of situations, to hold onto the ultimate idealism...."

I don't know how many know that Hero was diagnosed with cryptogenic (unknown origin) liver cancer back in May. The prognosis was not good. The life expectancy with this type of cancer is generally 3-6 months, since it is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage.
Unfortunately, Hero passed away on the 3rd of august from complications from the cancer. He was comfortable up to the end.
He was appreciative of all the help that he got from everyone.
Thank you

What you've got here is your basic Indian pop music video. But someone who thinks it sounds like English has helpfully provided subtitles. I think I blew an artery or two watching this.
