HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNA!

Today is Miss Anna Benincasa's birthday! Give her some sugar, baby! (She is going to kick my ass for posting this picture, but hey, what are friends for?)

Moving Back to P-town!

Okay, no...I'm not moving my house back to Petaluma. I'm just now starting to soak up the V-ho vibes and enjoy living at the edge of the bay. No, my office is moving from Lagunitas up to Petaluma---my favorite little butter 'n' cluck town on the edge of the wine country! Yay! I do miss living in P-town...but for now, it will be nice to hang out there 4 days a week. This morning I went up to the new office (it took a half hour to drive there, vs. an hour to Lagunitas!) and stopped into my old cafe, Della Fattoria for a couple hugs, an Americano and a scrumptious scone...

Ahhh...its good to be home again. :)

Parallel Races?

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (MarketWatch) -- Big Brown nabbed the Kentucky Derby crown Saturday but the finish was marred by tragedy when second place Eight Belles broke both ankles and had to be euthanized on the track just minutes after the race.

* * *

Only 39 fillies have ever entered the Kentucky Derby in 134 years, and only 3 have ever come in first. I distinctly remember a soundbyte last week from Hilary Clinton saying "she was putting her money on the filly." Unfortunately, that was a win and a loss...a very sad loss.

Tragic. And ironic. Omen of the race to come?

Anyone need some warm-fuzzies?

I stumbled upon this website over the weekend, and it's just stuck with me. I already shared it with a few friends, but I thought I'd give it a little bandwidth here. This is a non-profit hospice for elderly, disabled and special animals. I'm such a sucker for critters, and this really tugged on my heartstrings. The intro video is about 5 minutes long, but totally worth watching.

I am sad, so very sad. He was a truly great actor, and so young.

Drunk, Stoned & STOOPID!

Heard it on KGO this morning on the way in to work. The three men mauled (and one killed) by a Siberian tiger at the SF zoo on Christmas day had all been drinking, and all had marijuana in their system. One of the men had a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit. All evidence (including witness testimony) points toward the fact that they were standing on the railing of the exhibit, yelling, waving their arms and taunting the tiger before she escaped and took her revenge. There was a footprint matching one of the men on the railing taken as evidence the day of the mauling. Also, one of the surviving brothers confessed to the dead boy's father that they had been taunting the animal when it attacked.

Don't go thinking he can't do any more damage...

There's still 12 whole months of damage our President can inflict on us, and the rest of the planet. And what with the country's attention acutely focused on the election and its inevitable mud-slinging melodrama, his actions are more likely than ever to get swept under the rug.

The world's oceans are already in peril from a host of man-made disasters...overfishing, oil spills, plastics, chemical and pharmaceutical pollution. Now its officially okay for the US military to commit what amounts to a catastrophic sensory assault on the entire marine ecosystem.

I despise this man.

(this is a few years old, but gives you more detail on possible effects of naval sonar pollution)
