<div> On Wednesday, March 1st, 2006, in Annapolis
at a hearing on the proposed Constitutional
Amendment to prohibit gay marriage, Jamie
Raskin, professor of law at AU, was requested
to testify.

At the end of his testimony, Republican Senator
Nancy Jacobs said: "Mr. Raskin, my Bible says
marriage is only between a man and a woman.
What do you have to say about that?"

Raskin replied: "Senator, when you took your
oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible
and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did
not place your hand on the Constitution and
swear to uphold the Bible."

The room erupted into applause.</div>

By MIKE FOSTER

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Scared-stiff astronomers have detected a mysterious mass they've dubbed a "chaos cloud" that dissolves everything in its path, including comets, asteroids, planets and entire stars -- and it's headed directly toward Earth!

Discovered April 6 by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the swirling, 10 million-mile- wide cosmic dust cloud has been likened to an "acid nebula" and is hurtling toward us at close to the speed of light -- making its estimated time of arrival 9:15 a.m. EDT on June 1, 2014.

"The good news is that this finding confirms several cutting- edge ideas in theoretical physics," announced Dr. Albert Sherwinski, a Cambridge based astrophysicist with close ties to NASA.

"The bad news is that the total annihilation of our solar system is imminent."

Experts believe the chaos cloud is composed of particles spawned near the event horizon of a black hole (a form of what's called Hawking Radiation) that have been distorted by mangled information spewed from the hole.

"A super-massive black hole lies about 28,000 light-years from Earth at the center of our galaxy," explained Dr. Sherwinski.

"Last year the eminent physicist Stephen Hawking revised his theory of black holes -- which previously held that nothing could escape the hole's powerful gravitational field. He demonstrated that information about objects that have been sucked in can be emitted in mangled form.

"It now appears that mangled information can distort matter.

"Just imagine our galaxy the Milky Way as a beautiful, handwritten letter.

"Now imagine pouring a glass of water on the paper and watching the words dissolve as the stain spreads. That's what the chaos cloud does to every star or planet it encounters."

To avoid widespread panic, NASA has declined to make the alarming discovery public. But Dr. Sherwinski's contacts at the agency's Chandra X-ray Observatory leaked to him striking images of the newly discovered chaos cloud obliterating a large asteroid.

"It's like watching a helpless hog being dissolved in a vat of acid," one NASA scientist told Dr. Sherwinski.

Ordinarily, Hawkings Radiation is harmless.

"It's produced when an electron- positron pair are at the event horizon of a black hole," Dr. Sherwinski explained. "The intense curvature of space-time of the hole can cause the positron to fall in, while the electron escapes."

But when "infected" by mangled information from the black hole, the particles become a chaos cloud, which in turn mangles everything it touches.

"If it continues unchecked, the chaos cloud will eventually reduce our galaxy to the state of absolute chaos that existed before the birth of the universe," the astrophysicist warned.

Some scientists say mankind's best hope would be to build a "space ark" and hightail it to the Andromeda Galaxy, 2.1 million light-years away.

"We wouldn't be able to save the entire human population, but perhaps the best and the brightest," observed British rocket scientist Dr. David Hall, when asked about the feasibility of such a project.

But even if such a craft could be built in time, evacuating Earth might prove fruitless if theories about the origin of the chaos cloud are correct.

"A black hole at the center of Andromeda is about 15 times the size of the one in our own galaxy," Dr. Sherwinski noted. "It might be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire."

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a senior White House official said the president's top science advisors are taking the findings in stride.

"This is a lot like global warming, where the jury is still out on whether it's real or not," said the official.

"The existence of this so called chaos cloud is only a theory. Americans shouldn't panic until all the facts are in." </div>

British Office Compiles List Of Odd Names

    </a>
<div>LONDON -- Horatio Hornblower is an odd name, but consider his siblings: Azubia, Constantia, Jecoliah, Jedidah, Jerusha and Erastus. Rene Jackaman, archive assistant at Cornwall County Record Office, found all those names after coming across a real-life namesake of C.S. Forester's fictional naval hero in county census records.

The Hornblower name has been on record for centuries.

Inspired by that discovery, staff and researchers at the Cornwall Record Office compiled a list of more than 1,000 unusual names found in censuses as well as in births, deaths and marriage records going back as far as the 16th century.

"My all-time favorites are Abraham Thunderwolff and Freke Dorothy Fluck Lane," she said.

Other discoveries included Boadicea Basher, Philadelphia Bunnyface, Faithful Cock, Susan Booze, Elizabeth Disco, Edward Evil, Fozzitt Bonds, Truth Bullock, Charity Chilly, Gentle Fudge, Obedience Ginger and Offspring Gurney.

Levi Jeans was married in Padstow, Cornwall, in 1797.

Other remarkable duos in the marriage records included Nicholas Bone and Priscilla Skin, joined in wedlock in 1636; Charles Swine and Jane Ham in 1711; John Mutton and Ann Veale in 1791, and Richard Dinner and Mary Cook in 1802.</div>

<div>I have (yet again) failed to schedule my birthday party ... this sucks. :P

For those of you who don't know, my birthday is December 24th, which means that anything I try to do ON my B-day will be screwed up by the whole Xmas thing. Therefore, I try to have my party in the summer when people can actually show up and have a good time.

Let me also add that, me being the horrible Lech that I am, my parties can get a little out of hand .... well, the good ones anyway.

Any suggestions people?</div>

    </a>
<div>Back when raves were underground events, DJs weren't pretending to be celebrities, and I was soooo not part of that scene, people took MDMA and danced/petted/kissed/talked alot. Things like candy necklaces started appearing (along with pacifiers) almost as a secret symbol for these taboo events held in the dark of night.

Soon, they became promoted events. Flyers went up, ad space was purchased, DJs hired from across the country, .... and they ceased having the aura of illicitness that attracted so many in the first place. Hanging out in the mezzanine at the Phoenix Theater is naughtier than 99% of the raves now days.

Ravers, embrace the product pictured above ... take back your parties from the money people who've stolen them! Face it, if you're there for the DJ you're at a concert, not a rave. :P</div>

<div>Because of my involvement with the more outre` side of things, I've stumbled across something a "boringly straight" male would rarely notice ... anti-bisexual prejudice. Some lesbians and gay men get *angry* at bi people for "not admitting that they're homosexual". I'd assume this was just another case of internet cranks if my former neighbor hadn't said this to my girlfriend ... and then told a straight friend of mine that she had to be be bisexual!

WTF? Why is your sexual preference okay, but not a bi person's? Is the whole LGBT just an attempt to increase your lobbying power? </div>

    </a>
<div>If you go down to the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the woods today
You'll never believe your eyes.
For every bear that ever there was
Is gathered there for certain because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their rave up.

There's angel bears who come on their bikes
All dressed in their leather gear
There's gallons of scrumpy all green and lumpy
And horrible Watney's beer
Yogi downed a pint of it quick
And was very promptly horribly sick
And filled up both of Paddington's new wellies.

Rave up time for teddy bears
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today
Grooving to those heavy sounds
That only Status Quo know how to play.
Cresta bear is freaking out
"It's frothy, man", he's blowing his little brain
Rupert bear is having a trip
Winnie the Pooh is doing the strip
They reckon that he's on the game.

Now every bear that ever there was
Is sure of a treat today
'Cause Mummy and Daddy and baby bear
Have found a new game to play
Beneath the trees where nobody sees
There's Goldilocks tied up on her knees
You bet your life she's getting more than porridge.

If you go down to the woods today
You'd better not go alone
It's lovely down in the woods today
But safer to stay at home
'Cause it's a really kinky scene
A big butch bear is playing the queen
And they don't call him Sugar Puffs for nothing.

Rave up time for teddy bears
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today
Groping in the undergrowth
Oh, what would Enid Blyton have to say
See them as they prance around
Collapsing on the ground; they haven't any cares
At twelve o'clock the coppers are coming
To take them all away
'Cause they've been naughty little teddy bears.</div>

<div>Protecting children from physical and emotional abuse is a fine and noble goal ... why the fuck do we try and "protect" them from knowledge? So much harm is caused by teaching kids blatant bull shit as facts, it takes years to get past it (if ever).

Sex is a fact of life, as is violence, injustice, social classes, deception, insanity, intolerance, etc. .....

<div> ... to avoid offending each and every little group of jack asses out there.

We have a loud group of American Christians who want to re-write science and history to fit their prejudices on one hand, and the "Liberals" (who can't seem to remember any of the economics classes they took at Yale, Harvard, or Stanford) who seem to want to pass laws against insulting ANYONE for any reason.

You can't take nail clippers or a lighter on an airplane, kids can't wear blue, red, brown, or PINK at the local schools anymore, and they don't seem to be required to LEARN anything to graduate from High School.

This girl is about to be expelled for wearing a button. It doesn't insult anyone, it doesn't advocate violent social change, and it doesn't even have those stupid blinky lights.
