"Gross Receipts From SF Sources"

Let's see if Tribe is good for something still.

I am filling out my SF Business Registration Renewal, and they got a new question this year. To wit:

F. 2009 Gross Receipts from SF sources. (fill in the blank)

I know what Gross receipts are, I know what 2009 was, but I don't know what "From SF Sources," means here. Does anybody know?

They can't mean, "Income from any person or company residing in SF," can they? As opposed to those clients I did business with who are based in other cities? That would be ridiculous. Does a tourist shop on Fisherman's Wharf have to keep track of the home address of those who bought a T-shirt last year?

Surely they must mean, "2009 Gross Receipts for your businesses, subsidiaries or outlets based in SF." Right? And it only sounds odd to me because I have just the one "source," one business, based in SF. Surely their idea of "sources," means SF business, and does not correspond to my idea of a source, which is a client who gives me money.

Calculating my gross receipts for my whole company is easy. Figuring out who among my clients is based in SF may be impossible, or at least cumbersome.

Your knowledge, shared, is appreciated.

Did Glenn Beck Rape and Murder a Girl in 1990?

This is making big news all across the internets today, and I think its important that I bring it to your attention:

As of yet, Glenn Beck has not issued any denials or refuted in any way the well-substantiated claims that he raped and murdered a girl in 1990. Here's a police report from Durham County:
unreasonablysafe.wordpress.com/20...pe/

This man has a national television audience with millions of viewers and has not once addressed these accusations! He is enjoying the fierce protection of Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes who are doing everything in their power to squash the as-yet undenied rumors that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990. They are attempting to shut down any website that dares to ask the question and ask for a response from Mr. Glenn Beck.

If you have any decency Mr. Beck, you'll prove to us that you did not do this heinous crime.

I encourage all of you to visit this website to learn more about these allegations:
glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com

This site must be serious journalism because they aren't accepting any donations, even.

Here's a snip from the website:

"This site exists to try and help examine the vicious rumour that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. We don't claim to know the truth -- only that the rumour floating around saying that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 should be discussed. So we're going to do our part to try and help get to the bottom of this.

Why won't Glenn Beck deny these allegations? We're not accusing Glenn Beck of raping and murdering a young girl in 1990 - in fact, we think he didn't! But we can't help but wonder, since he has failed to deny these horrible allegations. Why won't he deny that he raped and killed a young girl in 1990?"

More on the Fight for The Public Option

Okay, so, if you read my last blog, you now know all about the Public Option, and why this fight is the fight of this generation. I'm assuming you have all wrenched yourselves away from the TV long enough to call your Senators and representatives and told them how disgusted you are with the attacks that Republicans and traitorous Democrats are making on the Public Option, and with the weak fight some Democrats are putting up to save meaningful health care reform.

Good. Now for some more direct and forceful attacks. Check out this ad:

www.youtube.com/watch

This ad will be run in Nebraska to pressure Democrat Senator Ben Nelson to stop delaying health care reform and to fully support the Public Option. Ads like these are VERY effective in not only embarrassing elected officials, but rallying other folks to join the fight. I just donated $50 to this ad campaign, the second ad I've given money to in this fight.

I hope all of you go to this page here:
www.actblue.com/page/stayatwork
and donate $25 or $50 bucks to point a hot light on this Senator.

I will keep my eye open for other ad campaigns like this, against other elected Democrats, and give when I can. This is money well spent, i assure you. It is as important as the donations you made during the election campaign. I know you have some spare cash. Please consider giving some of it to a cause that, if successful, will save you over a thousand dollars a year in Health insurance premiums, and might save your life.

Seriously: Call your Reps and Senators Now! It’s Time to Fight for Health Care Reform

(Time for a deadly serious post:)

Remember a few months ago, when we were all excited that a sane, non-criminal person was going to occupy the White House? Remember looking forward to a new era of better laws, consumer protection and more regulations on monolithic corporations that have historically acted as if they were above the law? Most of all, remember looking forward to health care reform that would bring down insurance rates and the cost of care, end unfair claim denials and the standard insurance industry practice of cancelling patients who need health care the most?

Well, we didn’t win just because we won the election. And to be sure, we won the election in a huge way. Democrats control both houses of congress by comfortable margins. Obama campaigned and was elected on a promise of a Medicare-like public health insurance option available to all Americans. We won, but we haven’t driven the lobbyists out of Washington.

86% of all Americans want a Public Option as a part of health care reform package. But many or our senators and Reps are owned by the insurance lobbies, and are talking crap. They are siding with Republicans and fighting against the Public Option.

The Public Option is a Medicare-like health plan that would be available to all Americans. Medicare is rated the highest of all health insurance plans for costs, convenience and choice of providers and access to care. It will be cheaper than anything available via private insurance companies, and will force them to buckle down and change their ways if they want to stay in business.

No wonder insurance companies hate it. Republicans hate it. For-profit hospitals hate it because it means fewer profits for them. Profit for them means cost to you.

This fight is going on RIGHT NOW in the House and in the Senate. Your help is needed now. You need to take action: Here’s what you can do:

1) Get on the phone and call your senators and congresspersons and tell them that you want a Strong Public Option, without “Triggers, Co-Ops, or any other compromises.” The goal is to flood their offices with support for the plan and put them on notice that we are all aware of the fight, we know what we want and that we will vote against those who oppose it.

Find your senators and reps numbers here:
www.visi.com/juan/congress/index.html
or here:
www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

2) Call these representatives in particular, and tell them you’ll support them with campaign contributions if they fight for the Public Option NOW.

3) (Yes, there is a third thing) Copy this blog and run it in your own blog. PLEASE copy this blog! Or write your own blog and encourage your readers to do these things. Even if your blog isn’t normally about politics, if you care about good health care for everyone, then you ought to do something to help this cause.

4) Tell your friends. Send an email to your family. Every little bit helps, every call helps. It is especially important to take this campaign into every state.

Never has any idea enjoyed the support of so many Americans as the Public Option, but never has any bill been so hated and feared and fought by conservatives and industries, because it means the beginning of the end of their useless, corrupting influence. They are fighting hard and they are winning. You MUST fight back. If you care at all about your future, you must call your representatives.

Do it now. The fight is vicious, but we can win if you call.

thought for the day

It's important to remember that we are not creatures of one homogeneous origin, but are the phenotypic expression of a colony of genes, each of which with it's own heritage, not necessarily in lockstep with its genomic partners. For example; you of a particular blood type, share a gene, that which expresses itself in that blood type, with all chimpanzees with the same blood type. That gene in you is more closely related to the gene in the chimpanzees than the corresponding gene for another blood type in another human being in your family. That person, in turn, is more closely related to another chimpanzee of the same blood type, with regard to that gene alone.

Thought, for Today:

I just wanted to let everyone who ever gave me any very nice, or even just decent piece of cookware, cutlery or kitchen appliance, all of it has been used to great effect in the past two weeks. Thank you all very much.

The rest of you, know that your comments will be censored, because my sisters, Dad, mom, and each of my Dad's other wives will be looking at this.
