I'm in Germany until June 23rd

Here I am in Hamburg, Germany. I've been having a nice time staying and visiting with my girlfriend's family and friends. The days are very long because Germany is so far north. It gets dark about 10:30pm and gets light by 5am.

This is a picture of a statue of a traditional water carrier. Men would carry water for sale in this way. There are lots and lots of these statues, each one painted differently. It reminded me of the many Hearts in San Francisco -- each one painted differently.

The story goes that kids would tease the water sellers, saying "Hummel, Hummel" to which the water seller would reply with "Morse, Morse" which means "Kiss my ass!"
