futbol and other potentially fun goings on
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 5:18 PMI've had a few ideas floating around of things to do in the next few weeks, and just wanted to see if any of you might be interested.
First off, The San Jose Earthquakes are playing the opening game of their return season next Saturday at the Oakland Coliseum). For those of you who don't know, the team plays in a so-called "professional soccer" league, or what those swarthy foreigners insist on calling "football" which is apparently very popular over there thanks to one of the Spice Girls or something. Anyway, I've never seen one of these "soccer" matches in person, but it could be a good time out, if for no other reason than that alcohol and/or brutal violence is rumored to be involved. Tickets are around 20 -40 bucks.
Also happening soon,
"Shine A Light" - Martin Scorcesse's Rolling Stones concert movie in IMAX - opens Friday, at the METREON (downtown SF) - Should look and sound great, if nothing else. Plus, Mick Jagger and Jack White duet!
Death Cab for Cutie at the Fillmore, or the Raconteurs (Jack White's other band) at Bimbo's SF - unfortunately the same night, also unfortunately both sold out so tix may be pricy, still I'm going to try to make at one of these.
Finally, I'd love to get a poker game together if anyone is interested.
